My laptop is 6 years old and has been running arch Linux with xfce for most of that time. I got tired of maintaining it and changed to an "easy" Linux mint distro. It takes much longer to boot up now and feels generally sluggish in comparison to a minimal arch install. So from experience, in older hardware having a bloated distro can really slow down your system.

Without knowing the real reasons behind it, it's very difficult to hold an opinion on the board's decisions

I just wanna say I appreciate people here making intelligent, good faith arguments on both sides without resorting to black or white thinking or getting too aggressive/ abusive.

Phones.

Banking apps, podcasts, gps navigation, chatting to friends, listening to music are all awesome.

But then getting stuck doomscrolling and constantly checking my phone trying to eke out a little more stimulation when literally anything else would be a more productive way to spend my day - that part sucks ass.

Seems to me that it took a huge amount of time and resources to reach the new score, and I'm guessing they don't have the budget to do the same for every model

Weird that you're all calling it "Earth's summer" when it's only been summer in the Northern hemisphere.. Not arguing the point, just saying it sure hasn't been summer down here in Australia

uhh yeah, so anyway, this is good news for Taiwan because they have a MASSIVE country on their doorstep that has been threatening to invade for decades now, and having another powerful country recognise their existence is great because it discourages mainland China from invading.

I never made it past Netflix. Once the quality started sliding and prices went up, it was back to the high seas for me. I guess I still have to pay for a VPN service though 🤷

I don't think they're beyond redemption. My hope is that Linus can take a step back and let the CEO work on improving the workplace culture. No idea if he's up to the challenge but time will tell

So I realise I'm probably a dumbass, but I'm not sure in exactly which way yet. I bought an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X CPU in mid 2020, but looking online I see the cards under that name weren't released until 2022, and the specs look different??

I wrote down all the specs for my pc after I built it so I wouldn't forget. Could it be that I just wrote it down wrong and was telling people I had a CPU that wasn't even built yet?

edit: yes I'm a dumbass it was 3600X. I'm gonna go crawl in a hole now, thanks for your time.
