You're joking, but you're right.

Once the content has been created, the near-zero marginal cost of online distribution makes the concept of charging for copies wholly untenable.

The furry community figured this out years ago, our creators work on commission or paid subscription through Patreon or one of its ilk. They (mostly) don't care where you freely share their work because they already got paid.

Incorrect. Not only can mpox be spread through the air via respiratory droplets, skin contact with contaminated surfaces is also a transmission vector.

The fatality rate is also more than twice that of Covid.

Nothing I'd want to suggest on a public forum..

There's weeks left to go 'til the convention, plenty of time to run an actual primary if the DNC wanted to.

There's no such thing as a free market.

[-] knightly@pawb.social 25 points 3 months ago

Seems like an easy win. The DNC will never go for it.

Right-wingers don't see children as people. They're aggrieved that the state is involved in their property.

Unless you build your own, you have to trust your ISP to move packets, but you don't have to rely on any third party services or give them your personal info to use social media.

Fully decentralized, open-source, and encrypted social networks exist. The only servers needed are your computer and the computers of the friends you communicate with. (See: Retroshare )

They're just never going to get big because small, personal friend-to-friend networks can't compete with the network effects of centralized media and a never-ending torrent of dopamine on tap.

What they ought to do is expunge the convictions and offer some form of recompense for the unjust treatment, but reparations aren't something our government wants to talk about.

Super-short version:

The system that Linux uses to draw anything on the screen (showing the desktop, your windows, their contents, etc) is called a display server.

Linux has been using a display server called the X Window System (or x11) since its inception, but it's ancient and has limitations that can't be fixed without breaking everything that depends on it.

The Wayland compositor is the new display server that will be replacing x11, improving security and adding support for newer features like HDR. It's nearly ready for a full release now, and is already the default for some Linux distributions.

My only note here is that canned beverages have a layer of non-recyclable plastic on the inside to prevent chemical interactions between the contents and the metal. Glass bottles are fine though as (aside from plastic labels) they're fully recyclable.

Given how much the shareholders are skimming off the top, $2Mil for a critical database engineer is cheap.
