People are scared to death to talk about their company publicly because we are trained to have that fear.

It's pretty wild how ingrained it can be and how much power it gives the company to do whatever they want with no fear of consequences.

There is a cute formulaic way active LinkedIn users frame every post.

Let me tell you about my motivational story. I overcame extreme difficties in order to achieve more for my career in two short weeks using the Bernard Technique...

Five paragraphs of heart wrenching guilt for the benefit of the company later and you're being sold a premium course to find similar fulfillment from your life and job!

Hey lemmings!

I'm looking to get a new laptop in the near future but I keep getting lost in the details of what is good versus what I'd need.

I'm not really a gamer and already have a console for most games, but would like something that can at least run something like league of legends.

I also would be doing some light video editing but even so I don't think I'd need some top of the line cutting edge option.

So I thought I'd ask Lemmy for their thoughts on what's a good general purpose/workish laptop in 2023!

I've been meaning to check this out! It sounds so cool and possibly interacts with other fediverse things?

Do you know when 0.18 will be out?

I noticed this as well, but it also made me reflect on why I even started adding "reddit" to my searches.

It's kind of crazy how bad most other results are. They are almost universally some kind of sponsored ad or blog content written by the marketing department of some brand. It's strangely difficult to find the information you are looking for on google these days.

Reddit was a band-aid but the larger issue is more in how search became an outlet for ads. Modern billboards on the information superhighway.

I'm not sure if there's a proper solution anymore.
