your "boycott" was already happening naturally because (ayk) lemmy.ml's mods are insufferable

making video games where you violently butcher animals to make burgers does not make people care about the animal abuse going on in the food industry, it just makes them angry that you would make such a game and target it towards children

aside from this, it seems peta's biggest impact has been making the public convinced that their movement is taking animals out of shelters and euthanizing them, and it has been a great boon for meat industry lobbyist groups to have someone to point at whenever they get into a scandal from animal mistreatment

note: I am not anti-vegan (unless that means specifically c/vegan) or anti-animal-welfare (duh) but I am not vegan either (I am also not an industry shill lmao)

I hope I cooked with this one, I apologize if I have gotten anything wrong (in the case that I did cook, meme does not contain animal products)

meme is oc

meme is not much better than my last one but at least I used actual editing software this time

I was gonna name this meme 'the return of the king' but it's not the same

had to use imgur to upload again because dbzer0 still does not support uploading videos properly

guess I'll die (i.imgur.com)

I had In The House - In A Heartbeat playing in my head while making this meme

sorry for the pixelation in the corner, I used a shitty website which put a watermark there

For context, here's the original comic:

It's insane how close that handwriting is to randall's, did he make multiple versions of this comic or was this written by a professional forger?

I've heard this sentiment that it is immoral a lot on the internet, and I would like to hear more about it. It feels intuitively correct to me, but I would like to hear the reasoning behind it.

Examples to further the title's meaning

  • Calling someone 'queer' to mean they are weird, but not in a way intended as disparaging to those who are LGBT(Q+).

Not Examples

Discussion questions:

  • How does this factor into meanings of words fading away?
    • Does it still pack the same "punch" after it no longer is commonly used as a pejorative?
      • If not, at what point is it generally considered okay to use?
  • How does this differ/compare with reclamation?

Some potential reasoning that I've thought of on my own, feel free to discuss.

  • Bad actors can piggyback off of the use as a negative to help condemn the original target group.
  • It may directly harm the group, by them (also knowing the original context) coming into contact with it and causing/enabling self-hate.
    • This may apply irregardless of if they know it was intended as non-disparaging to them or not, but this is just speculation based off of my similar experiences.

I apologize for any personal bias within this comment, I tried my best to limit it but I am fallible.

Though I would like a discussion in the comments, please refrain from insults and inflammatory statements towards your fellow lemmings, despite the hot topic. /srs

Imagine having to be that kid, someone saying they'll protect you and then accusing you of attacking them for part of yourself that you have no control over

I apologize for the quality, windows does not have any built in way to take screenshots with the mouse cursor, so I ended up having to use their shitty step recorder tool

edit: yes yes I know I was wrong I understood after the first comment

I googled it, and the top result wanted to download/install a PuP.

whenever I see a meme with art from stonetoss (a neo-nazi) in it, I have a visceral response

[-] moosetwin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 54 points 1 year ago

remember: you don't have to be vegan to worry about animal welfare

100% of people who have committed a murder have drunk DiHydrogen Monoxide within the last two weeks, do you feel safe giving this to your children?

I mean wanting to not need money doesn't mean that you don't need money right now
