@troyunrau Not complaining, just explaining my choice for a particular desktop and preferences. I realize it's open source and I realize I have the source so if it's severe enough I have the option of modifying it. If only I had infinite time.
@lancalot Only that I've run just about every debian derived distro there is and Ubuntu is the only one that has reliably upgraded in place.
@MonkeMischief @reallyzen NIS is seriously broken in Suse and I've had a bug report in four at least four years and they won't fix it. So no good in a network.
@troyunrau Ok did try, delete + center button mouse click does remove the file however since the only delete on my keyboard is right side and I'm right handed handed and and thus also use the mouse right hand, not terribly useful.
@troyunrau In mate it's a drop down menu not a key.
@bunitor That would be my take. My take is that as individuals we are were international cooperation needs to begin, it isn't going to happen with our governments, at least it never has historically.
@zwekihoyy Yea I've heard that excuse but on the Internet there are infinitely more Linux servers and still Windows is more often compromised. I think it has more to do with thousands of eyes on the code submitting bug reports and fixes.
Ubuntu will boot on either legacy or UEFI.
I have been trying to turn up a Lemmy instance, I presently have a friendica instance, friendica.eskimo.com/, a hubzilla instance, hubzilla.eskimo.com/, and a mastodon instance, mastodon.eskimo.com/, but I have found getting Lemmy operational to be more challenging than these.
When you spin up the drive, the motor has to overcome the mass of the disks to bring them up to speed, requiring more torque, current, and wear, than just keeping them at that speed. On the other hand, bearings don't wear out at zero RPM. Bearings go, motor goes, either way drive is dead. Regarding bearings ALWAYS mount drives so that they are horizontal, this results in minimal bearing wear and load.
They sure are huge on my system and spread their shit over half the file systems. Firefux is a complete disaster now that it is flatpack.
Did you try to ping the router IP, 192.168.1.1 and see if it responded?
