That's not being rigged, it's a Democratic Party election. No shit someone from outside the party will have less influence.

[-] nictophilia@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago

Dude, I literally voted in the primary. What the fuck are you talking about?

Tendency to want to get in the weeds and do the work. The real job of an exec is managing people, and anything that distracts from that make the company worse.

For example, I knew a founder who skipped a meeting with potential investors because there was a bug he was figuring out. He fixed the problem, and he did it better than any other employees could have, but that's not where he was needed.

I've never got a good job from a job board. Always recruiters.

Every exec I've known was either a good people manager, a founding member, has asaloads of money, or some combination thereof.

Some of them were geniuses, but that actually made them worse at their jobs.

Ok now it's a trolley problem, except instead of a trolley it's a US presidential election, and instead of pulling a lever you vote

I dunno if they'd take too kindly to me saying "hey, I made a personal finance community on an instance without offputting political views, y'all should all abondon this one"...

[-] nictophilia@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago

Nah, I was looking at it from my lemmy alt. Same deal. Here, I'll edit it again so you can see.

This is so weird. In a comment, I can make a link to it that's visible from other communities. But not in the body of the post.

I've been asking for a personal finance community for a while. The only US-based one I've found is on .ml, which...ew. I haven't made one because I do not have the time to mod a big, popular sub like that one will hopefully become.

Buuuuut I got tired of waiting for someone else to do it so I made it: https://lemmy.world/c/personalfinance_us@fedia.io

I'm sure it will be a shitshow but at least I tried.

Haha, I got it! It's not anywhere in the settings at all, lol. Like a hidden option. You have to go to the url "https://fedia.io/d/[instance domain name]", like "https://fedia.io/d/lemmy.ml". Then it will give you the ability to block, and that block will be reflected in your settings page.
