The appropriate response when a fascist makes a good point is to tell them to fuck off, because they're going to twist that to fit their bullshit.

Nothing. He's banking his win on core supporters only, hoping Harris fumbles in the days leading up, and planning another coup. He's just detailing the culture war stuff.

And the dude said it to a native American whose tribe has been in the region for millennia. He's not even a native to the state.

It's ok for symbols to have different meanings in different contexts. If someone is new to the context, they should research or ask about it. People that are familiar should provide the mutual understanding, provided they have the will and ability to educate.

Ozma is anything but a troll. They're highly consistent in their political beliefs, and generally knows the topics they post about. Not everyone you disagree with is a troll or a foreign agent.

The republican party is pushing bills through the lower branch that enshrine real antisemitism through Zionism. That's where US media and politics are at regarding the genocide.

22 people is hardly a survey for a national election, and is a total nonanswer. I'm asking you what you think Vance did better.

[-] rockSlayer@lemmy.world 38 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

What specifically do you feel Walz didn't do as well as Vance?

[-] rockSlayer@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Believe it or not, but you don't have to explicitly state something for you to be doing something. It's extremely obvious that you approached this news with that bias.

The same way you organize anything. Start by talking to a couple trusted coworkers to form an organizing committee. All the members of the OC need to talk to coworkers, handle workplace drama, agitate for better conditions, educate people about unions, maintain systematic campaign tracking, and fight against the boss during their union busting campaign. When I worked remotely, it was as simple as sending a dm like this:

Hey, would you be able to talk over break? Some coworkers and I were discussing some issues and I wanted to hear your thoughts.

Unions are legal in the US. The labor movement is currently seeing a huge swell in new bargaining units across most unions

I became a socialist because I was an "essential employee" during the height of the pandemic. I was treated like shit by my company, the customers, and the government while they sung my praise. I watched my grandpa get good cancer treatment with the VA (shocker, I know, but it happens) while my sister and grandma had to fight insurance for cancer treatment.

We can't make a perfect world, but we can make a better one. And it starts with a socialist economy.

We all know that the Communists Have the Music, but there's a problem that I don't believe is talked about enough. It's an unfortunate reality that music meant to carry leftist messages are not mainstream and therefore hard to find if you don't know where to look. I also have a vast collection of music I think should be shared far and wide. This has led me to create !leftymusic@lemmy.world so these songs can be more readily found and shared. Come by and share some songs you know!

Ok so I got this idea not while showering, but because I'm very high. The story does come from my bathroom though! I have a night light in my bathroom, and I was looking at the night light as I turned off the bathroom light. I'm a big nerd so I remembered that the things that detect light levels are actually diodes wired in reverse. I thought it would be funny to make it flicker by reflecting the light back on the diode, but it didn't work. That's when I had this realization

I'm a mod of !leftism@lemmy.world, and the last resort preemptive defederation from hexbear has me concerned. As a mod, what are the specific rules that I need to know about to make sure our community fits the guidelines of LemmyWorld? We aren't a huge community and there aren't a huge number of posts every day, but I want to see this community grow and thrive. I can't do that without knowing the guidelines hexbear violated to warrant defederation. We're focused on left unity, so I need to know what we can't allow.

I'm working on family planning with my partner, and we want to have children within the next couple years. While I'm definitely an anarchist, I'm not a 'studied' anarchist and don't know as much as I'd like about the political theory. I watched a video from Andrewism on the topic, which made me think about this topic. I largely agree with his assessment, and want to raise my children without a hierarchy because I believe that it's the best method of raising children. The problem is that I don't really know how to go about it or how to bring it up to my partner. Obviously there isn't a 'right' way to do it because each child is their own person and I'd need to balance that with the responsibility of being the parent, but I'd love to know some guidance from other anarchist parents.

I'm firmly on the side of "water is not wet" in this debate, but it's a question that I was asked while I was high and have no answer to it. Water cannot itself be wet because you can't get water on water. However, what is a fish in a lake? It can't be wet until it's taken out of the water, but it's not dry either. Is it something else?
