From what I found, a lot of the people who join Threads, wouldn't have even looked into joining the Fediverse in the first place. If anything, Threads is bringing the concept of the Fediverse to more people and some of those people may find that Mastodon and the rest of the Fediverse could be what they prefer, especially if you can still talk with your family and friends on here.

Threads are stuck behind dealing with their investors as we can push the Fediverse with new updates all the time

Yeah, Just don't post something you'll regret, it's called Accountability.

Currently no, but protocols and things are being worked on including one by the PixelFed creator called Sup!. Maybe one day we will have a good messaging system between the fediverse.

The easiest thing to use what isn’t decentralised but is secure would be Signal for the moment. Especially as they rolled out usernames instead of using your phone number

I know I’d at least like all my contacts using the fediverse as I hate having to switch apps to see what people are up to.

So how does the Fediverse make new jobs?

[-] samxavia@mastodon.social 0 points 7 months ago

I agree with you there; it hasn't made social media great but lots of people make a living off it and shouldn't lose out due to places like America banning an app they make money off.

It helps grow with creators and those who will be looking for an alternative to places like TikTok in projects like @loops

That's different from a Protocol that anyone can use, boot up a server that has access to the whole Fediverse active posts & user base.

The Fediverse is making it so much easier for people to have users across their own social network platforms, bending the protocols to work with what vision they have, well still allowing others to access it.

So with things like @loops on the way, do you think people who will move across to the Fediverse for an alternative if TikTok gets banned should earn there living?

The Fediverse makes sense to me for mass eyes on areas, having your data not sold and stuff, but why can't people earn a living on it like the other parts of the Internet?

So it should be done through donations then?

[-] samxavia@mastodon.social -5 points 7 months ago

Ok, why? Donations are easy on any platform, but if you want creators to move across and it makes sense for them, then wouldn't it make sense to find a way they can earn money?
