also… “focus”? iirc it was like 2-3 tweets so… idk if we can give him that much credit

[-] spujb@lemmy.cafe 48 points 1 month ago

but think how much money we could save if we just let them suffer alone 💔😩

would love to see some actual market research on this. sit down a sample of users, have them install then use some OSs. interview them on their experience. rather than yknow making up data

TLDR: It’s literally just satire. OOP is making fun of conservatives and transphobes.

Yeah, it's a common confusion. It took me a second to understand that they are just really into their special interest. Everything there is satire, to the extent that I think there is a rule that states "no serious posting." It's an incredibly abnormal community, and due to the deep and layered level of satire, they are heavy-handed with moderation because people mistake the satire for genuineness and try to get them banned.

Since some of the content may use the aesthetics of bigotry, for example, lots of jokes about mass murder and, as you see here, transphobia, I believe you're allowed to feel uncomfortable with it. However, the evidence I have seen doesn't indicate that any of it is genuine. If you are familiar with c/196 or c/egg_irl and have seen some of the satirical self-criticism in relation to trans identitiesthere, that's the kind of vibe they have, but for planes and tanks and shit.

I don't know. I subscribe because I find it interesting, and I haven't seen anything nearly as hateful as what I have seen on like, !world@lemmy.world since I figured out what their deal was.

Having said that, I do wish that @nuke@sh.itjust.works would be slightly more transparent with what the community is about in order to avoid this kind of situation. They could put pinned comments under posts like this, stating that transphobia will not be tolerated and similar. (nuke if you are reading this, just like, consider it. Your community is well moderated from what I have seen but the attitude of the moderation doesn’t help outsiders get what is going on.)

I am apalled to see the comments here making light of the death of a child with their “win stupid prizes” schtick.

Instead of talking about access to gun safety education if kids are in a gun household. Instead of reminding parents about the absolute necessity of gun safes. Instead of calling for gun reform so kids can’t get guns in the first place.

But no, carry on victim blaming, seems much more productive.

only works on purpose built “Copilot” devices and looks to be disabled by default

definitely funky but not as bad as other AI moves that users didn’t get to chose whether it showed up

vote, please (files.catbox.moe)

timemachineyeah

drives me up a wall living in a very very red district, like "no democrat is ever going to win any local election, let alone a real leftist" district, like "our school board members ran on who was the most anti-mask" red, like "I pass white supremacist signs on the way to buy weed" red

and being in the local leftist community and the guy who runs the anarchist book club and the lady who helps keep the warming shelters open and the people who marched on city hall when a local business was getting death threats for having a drag show are all members of a discord and we get on this discord and have frank discussions about how best to vote

the people who do the protests and the mutual aid and all the real work

going "okay, they're both fascists, but this one lacks ambition and seems happy to just glide in the position" or "they both suck, but this one can be reasoned with if you frame it patriotically enough" like we don't even have a democrat to vote for. we know what a vote is. we know what we hope accomplish with it. we know what it can do, and we know what it can't.

and going from those discussions to here where people think that your vote is some kind of fucking??? enabling maneuver??? as if someone isn't going to end up in that seat regardless of what you do???

we didn't build this system, we just live in it. we're just trying to survive. a vote isn't a statement of your values, it's not an endorsement, it's not a marriage contract, it's a strategic play you make to keep alive.

the biggest mistake I see leftists making is overestimating their own popularity. "well but everyone would be leftist if they just-" no, stop, 1) you can't possibly know that 2) everyone will not just

i get being passionate but when its every. single. comment. it gets exhausting.

it’s like if i went and commented “BE A VEGAN” under every picture of a burger on c/foodporn. like live your truth!!, but be decent about it for goodness sake.

i am terrified to learn that Alaska has proportionally almost double the stats of violent crime and rape per capita as the country average. turns out all that empty space does not really help.

starting to think OP just looks like this

[-] spujb@lemmy.cafe 47 points 10 months ago

if you find QA people do to QA and pay them to do QA this won’t happen.

but that’s not cost saving, is it?

[-] spujb@lemmy.cafe 42 points 11 months ago

lowhanging psyop spotted

my personal conspiracy theory is that these people are funded, if indirectly, by big oil. in the same way PETA smears the name of vegans, these mfs are designed to make you, the viewer, hate environmentalists.

the worst part? it works
