At $800 / month, that comes to about 30 - 60 minutes extra per weekday. It's something, but it doesn't really seem that outrageous. About the equivalent of taking a few smoke breaks on employer time. A fireable offense, sure, but criminal charges?

Because there weren't any great options at the time. Firefox has gotten better, but at that time Chrome was just super fast and lightweight in comparison to all the competitors.

I heard about the discovery of plastic eating bacteria years ago, and had always wondered why they weren't just spreading in nature and eating all the microplastics. This sheds a lot of light on current events in the field!
