What's gab?

Though she was convinced she was helping the Canadian government with its investigation, her husband and friends said something didn't seem right, adding she was likely getting scammed.

She was warned, and still went ahead with it anyway without doing the slightest bit of verification. This feels like the finance version of a Darwin Award

Depends on the details of why they were fired. We're obviously only getting one side of the story here

Whoever Satoshi was, I wonder how he's responding to the thought that he's personally contributed more to global warming than the average billionaire.

Or, he was realistic and practical about how far he could push change. In fact, considering the response, he might have gone a bit too fast. From a practical perspective, if he wants to change church policy, the best way to do it would be via the boiling frog method. Having an entire continent of the church potentially splinter away into a new extremist faction will not help the progressive cause

Again, you've conflated spelunking with living 5 meters from the exit. Firesites are everywhere in archaeology digs, including in caves.

From when this was posted yesterday:

It's an interesting question. How much focus should be on apple for providing a technology with a valid use case, as opposed to the systemic issue of the authorities ignoring stalkers and harassers?

Keep in mind that each airtag has a direct link to the identity of the stalker themself. It would take near zero effort for the authorities to actually prosecute these assholes. Instead, the cases are ignored and the stalkers emboldened, until the victims have to seek refuge in any way they can.

Just gonna drop an article about Naomi Wu, famous maker, as a counterpoint to all those who keep claiming free speech exists in China.

Seems a lot of people are misinterpreting this.

The goal is not to protect the general public from misinformation. The goal is to prevent the pool of new training data from getting TOO contaminated with AI generated images, which would make it worthless for training new AI

Why are we linking to somebody's slashdot post talking about an article, instead of the actual article?

Also, said article has been on the front page of lemmy and this community for the past 2 days
