You have to keep in mind that hypocrisy is not considered a bad thing to conservatives. It doesn't matter that they're hurting people, as long as they're "hurting the right people."

Conservative mindset is inherently unequal. The ingroup gets all rewards and benefits, the outgroup gets all blame and punishment.

X is just a vague term though. It's also often used as a placeholder for unknown or variable things. So the "formerly Twitter" is going to stick for quite a while.

It's like naming a product "The Thing". Anyone who talks about it will always have to clarify what Thing they are talking about basically forever.

I think the general rule of thumb is to shift the units of time up.

If he says 2 weeks, try 2 months. If he says 2 months, wait 2 years.

Robotaxis in 2 decades I think is actually achievable.

Would the army even exist if it weren't for young, naive, and/or desperate folk?

That would be nice if we had an unlimited supply of livers to transplant. Give everyone a chance.

Unfortunately I'd still rather give whatever liver we have on hand to someone guaranteed not to wreck it immediately, because giving her a chance means taking away someone else's.

Glass back is a premium design feature because it breaks easily, and customers who buy premium phones are expected to be rich enough to just buy another phone.

It's a profit making feature.

Much like luxury cars, nobody actually expects BMW or Mercedes to last more than 3 years. People who buy them are expected to trade up for the latest model every few years.

Same with luxury fashion. Absolutely some of the cheapest and fragile clothing I've ever seen come from big fashion brands. And nobody cares, because by the time they break, they're out of style and the buyer will be updating their wardrobe anyways.

If there's one thing I've learned, expensive luxury items = cheap and breakable. Midrange products are where the customers tend to be concerned with longevity and value.

The solution is to only sell them in the USA which has no pedestrian safety standards

The English phrase is "missing the forest for the trees"

Not quite the same as chess blindness. Possibly the opposite. It basically means: being unable to see (or ignoring) the bigger picture because you're too focused on minor individual details

it can mean "decent, better than I expected"

or

"good, but not exceptional or memorable"
