I'm happy to use something besides X, but when all I see on Bluesky is a circle jerk of people that love Biden & saying that Kamala ran a flawless campaign, then I start to hate it.
Bluesky may be a circle-jerk, but at least it isn't a literal neo nazi platform. We still have a ways to go till the fediverse goes mainstream.
Just stay on X, looks like you're the target audience.
Thats the problem of all corporate-funded social media.
Lets be honest, the fediverse aint much better.
A ton of the fediverse feels less like social media and more like new buckets to fill with old memes...there's very little original content on here which is, in my opinion, the best part of social media with strangers.
I miss pre-trump Twitter.
But I think it's less likely to get worse because aggressive engagement optimization is not the goal of any Fediverse project or instance.
This is (to me) the cancer of Reddit, Twitter and such. Awful, boring things are amplified because, on average, they make the most money.
I see the same thing. And as your down-votes suggest, Lemmy isn't much better. People seem to miss out on the fact that, just because one side is very wrong, that doesn't mean the other is entirely flawless. The left is now blowing sunshine up their own posteriors, and demanding others do the same. They become what they despise.
They lost to Trump again and appear to have learned nothing. Same ole blame everyone but ourselves.
If you follow groups that are about other stuff, you will find them. There are plenty of starter packs, even for conservative stuff.
That and weird furry diaper art.
You can find plenty of weird furry fetish art on the fediverse too if you find the right instances, that's just an internet thing.
Yeah, and that's understandable but this was appearing in my discover feed by default which is kinda ehhhhh. If someone is into that sure, but most people aren't and if they see that as part of their first impression of a platform it's probably going to be a turnoff.
I like Bluesky, but I don't disagree with this. When I started there last year it was A LOT of furry art and furry stuff. And they have every right to do all that. Go to town; I don't care. But I also don't really want to see it all over my feed(s).
I ended up subscribing to a list that mutes a ton of furry stuff, and that's really helped clean up the feed.
This is something I kinda wish was a more common feature: a robust tagging system. That way you could just opt in/out of the tags you don't want to see. Reddit kinda sorta had a partial solution, but it always seemed tacked-on.
Of course, there are a lot of difficulties to make a good tagging system, and it requires either centralisation or coordination. The former goes against lemmy's decentralised philosophy, and the latter requires a lot of extra moderation/admin work.
OK, but what if you were into it and didn't know?
Seriously, though, NSFW content in all or discover should probably be opt-in only.
