Thus, the decentralized platform is rolling out a "more aggressive" policy on parody accounts that aren’t clearly labeled.

If it were decentralised, it wouldn't be possible for the platform to set a network wide policy on parody accounts...

Because stirring up hate against vulnerable minorities, by positioning them as a threat is a well tested and effective technique for the power hungry to gain and retain power. And it's effective, because it works by pulling people in and making all of the conversation about whether or not it's right to hate on the group they're targeting.

It's a federated protocol, but the network itself isn't meaningfully federated, and is basically just Bluesky (the company) infrastructure. Hopefully that changes, because until then, it's still a centralised social media platform, despite the underlying technology

Nicolás Mihanovich, an abandoned cruise ship sits moored on the bank of Rio Iguazú, Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, at the apex of the borders between Argentina, Paraguay and Brasil.

It was originally designed as a luxury ferry between Argentina and Uruguay, but plans were made to turn it in to a floating Casino. The plans stalled, and now the ship sits, largely abandoned

The photo is taken from near the base of the Kangaroo Point side of the Captain Cook bridge, showing the curve of the river, with Brisbane City on the left bank, and the Kangaroo Point cliffs visible on the right bank.

I rejoined flickr recently (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

I've been using flickr on and off for 20 years now, so my flickr time stream gives me a nice snapshot of how my photography has changed and improved over the years.

In theory, I've got all of my old photos available, but on flickr, the ones I posted are the ones I considered my best at the time. So my flickr timestream gives me an perspective on my photography that the 10's of thousands of photos in my home collection does not.

It's been really interesting going back through my old photos and seeing the change first hand...

The expression on that second birds face is meme worthy!

I'm growing more and more impressed with its capabilities the more I use it! Wrapping my head around its approach to masking, and its "scene referred pipeline" took some time, but now that I'm getting the hang of it, I think I can say I genuinely prefer it to Lightroom.

Combined with digiKam, which is excellent for photo collection management, I'm a very happy photographer :)

If you're leaving skidmarks on things every day, the answer to that is better cleaning, not underwear to catch the marks.

I do sometimes bleach my undies (yay vaginas), but that's never been an issue when I'm going commando.
