I use tilde.club to host my website and gemini capsule. It's awersome I don't have to think about managing the server since it's done by the staff of tilde.club

Hello,

first I installed Gentoo with glibc and it worked fine, I got sway up and running but after some time I got bored and wanted something new. so I decided to go with Arch with rEFInd bootloader but I couldn't make it work. Arch dropped me into a rescue shell. so I went back to Gentoo but this time with musl and this time I tried Hyprland on Gentoo. there were 133 packages to install for Hyprland, so I went for installing those packages but the build failed probably because using musl. now I thought I just pick that's easy to setup and I went with Debian and it got installed successfully. so yeah, right now I am using Debian after the back and forth between Arch and Gentoo.

sadly I pissed of some Gentoo devs on IRC #gentoo :(

maybe it was my fault I shouldn't have distrohopped when Gentoo was installed succesfully and working fine.

hello,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but could someone explain me how a UEFI system boots, I couldn't find a guide online. I want to know because I don't understand certain GRUB commands and how it get installed.

I just copy paste commands from Arch wiki and it just magically works without me knowing anything about it.

all the different distros use different grub command parameter and it's so confusing. eg, Arch and Gentoo.

Arch command: grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=esp --bootloader-id=GRUB Gentoo command: grub-install --efi-directory=/efi

why both command is different? exactly where does grub gets installed?

sorry if this is a naive question but i really don't understnad GRUB.

Hello,

just wanted to share the idea. I was thinking about installing Android on Laptop just like it's already installed on mobile. I know it's possible using Waydroid but It would be nice If we have a distro that provides an iso to install stock Android(or Lineage OS) so people could easily install Android on their Laptops. I don't know if anyone has already tried it or not.

Edit: Thank you guys for the suggestions I am going for BlissOS and PrimeOS :)

Has anyone confirmed that signature? I think it's not possible to have the signature as a part of the data itself. Kinda chicken egg problem

Hello,

First of all I don't really get the actual meaning of "please". I understand it as it used to make a polite request. However I have rarely seen any westerner saying "please" on either Lemmy, Mastodon or IRC. where I live using "please" (मेहरबानी) is used often.

Hello,

I started learning Perl some time ago I also made a IRC bot using it however it is a very simple and basic bot but it's something I made using Perl :D

I also stumble upon some language quircks of Perl it's has bash vibes where if you don't do things right way it punishes you. eg, when you forget to quote your parameter expansion and bash performs word spliting and you are confused what's wrong!

so now I learned I language which I can use to manipulate text :D

hello,

I got into learning Perl because some people on IRC said so. at first I wasn't interested in Perl because I already know Python and Python can almost do anything Perl can. I still gave it a try to kinda have some experience learning new language. I am on chapter 3 right now and would make another post about my progress.

hii,

my first anime was naruto and I loved it. then I started watching blich and it was good.

at last I watched one piece and this anime is astoundingly awesome. it's concept of a new world pirates and marines are mind blowing. I liked the store to find one piece. every character has great and emotional back stories. kuma's back was the best out of all of them. I love the words of doflamingo: "I'm just an ordinary man with an ordinary heart. I'll change the world by becoming the Pirate King! No, by becoming someone greater than any Pirate King! Someone who conquers the sea and usurps the very heavens! No matter what you say, or what anyone else says, I am going to become the greatest! That's what I've decided! I don't give a damn about conquering some worthless seas. Men's dreams will never die! Children who have never seen peace and children who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!"

there is so much I can add about one piece but I will keep it short.

I would love to hear about your opinions about your favourite anime

I was beaten for standing against authoritarian government. The situation is so bad in India that I am afraid to reveal my religion in university. Lot of people in University tries to oppress me and I can't even complaint because everyone is ok with this and they enjoy oppressing us minorities.

I honesly feel like a jew living under nazi germany. 😞

It doesn't matter how much DRM you put into the service. someone can just spin up a Virtual Machine and install chrome, windows in it and then record the stream from the host system.
