I never knew my paternal grandad, he was a bigamist, that left all his money to wives 2 through 7 and none for my grandmother. A very nasty surprise.

But she was no Saint either, she didn't go to the dentist for a decade because the only available dentist was brown and she "didn't want those dirty hands in [her] mouth". She also tried to get my parents divorced for their entire marriage using dirty underhanded manipulative techniques and was very abusive. Me and my mom celebrated her death.

My dad was not great but he definitely improved on his parents.

I don't know anything about the other side, but they fled Nazi austria and fought for the allies so they couldn't be that bad.

Health Canada guidance is a bit more nuanced

Post-exposure prophylaxis or testing of a bat is generally recommended after direct contact with the bat (refer to Bat Exposure) because it is very difficult to ensure that a bite did not take place

Bat exposure: Post-exposure rabies prophylaxis following bat contact is recommended when both of the following conditions apply:

  • There has been direct contact with a bat, AND
  • A bite, scratch, or saliva exposure into a wound or mucous membrane cannot be ruled out.

Direct contact with a bat is defined as a bat touching or landing on a person.

In a child, a bat landing on clothing could be considered a reason for intervention, as a history to rule out a bite, scratch or mucous membrane exposure may not be reliable.

From 1998 to 2009, NACI recommended that people who may not be aware of or able to report a bat bite (e.g., sleeping person, young child, cognitively impaired) be offered intervention if a bat was found in the room with them. This recommendation was revised (as described above) in 2009 based on the rarity of human rabies related to bats (one case in Canada reported approximately every 5 years). Analysis conducted in Canada estimated that a case of human rabies related to bedroom exposure to a bat (i.e., finding a bat in the room of a sleeping person with no recognized physical contact with the bat) is expected to occur in Canada once every 84 years. In addition, it has been determined that, to prevent one case of rabies from bedroom exposure to a bat, using a conservative estimate, 314,000 people would need to be treated.

Nerds like us can argue until we are blue in the face, 99% of the public will continue to call it Linux. GNU/Linux is a good way to prompt those not in the know to learn some of the history while still being understandable as Linux, that is the current and best solution, I do not think it is unresolved.

Stunt driving is a pretty serious crime that can have jail time, this is just what they can do without a trial.

This happens a lot more than the cops would have you believe, but a stopped cop isn't able to catch up usually.

I know someone who did toronto to ottawa (~450km) in 2.5 hrs multiple times on a motorbike, although that was over a decade ago.

This is of course incredibly dangerous and I do not endorse this behaviour.

I'm 28 so a little older than the prompt, I have a setup i never use it. I used it a lot as a kid but it doesn't hold up to the alternatives.

  • tv & movies: the worst matchup with alternatives. In the time of the first adbreak i could add the show or movie to my *arr and get it before the ads are done. I also don't have to tune in on the hour/half hour and can switch to my phone/pc if I want/need to go somewhere else.
  • live news: i don't like tv news generally, but if i wanted i could watch it for free on YouTube or via free app.
  • live sports: the most compelling usecase. Unfortunately when I did follow sports I followed a team from the next city over, which means they get no coverage here making it useless. It also more ads than streams. Streams are honestly still pretty inconvenient and still pretty ad filled (banner ads, "this goal sponsored by" physical ads in the arena). None of this is worth it to me anymore so I just don't watch anymore.

These both seem to be pretty neutral titles?
