reduces my loyalty to the platform

Why the fuck would you have any loyalty to Apple? They sure as shit don't have any loyalty to their customers. In fact they piss in the face of their customers and tell them it's raining.

I love that their first posts are just highlight reels of Trump saying dumb shit and other Republicans absolutely trashing him.

Sure we can but will we? No.

Twitter has only lost ~10% of it's userbase after repeatedly abusing its own users. Reddit probably less. After everything we've learned about Meta, tens of millions of people signed up on day 1 to join their new service, Threads. Google Chrome still has like 80% market share.

Changing is honestly a trivial ask, but we won't, because no one cares.

I've come to the realization that the phone I want is a Nokia 3310 "brick".

  • Infinite battery life
  • compact size
  • headphone jack
  • indestructible
  • no spyware
  • no social media
  • T9 texting
  • no software updates
  • Snake
  • Brick Breaker

It's okay. There will be no Elysium. They'll die on this molten rock right here with us if they're still alive by then.

I think our reality is more like Idiocracy than Elysium.

I'm just thinking out loud here.

Steam Deck 2 is a long way away, and I think that's great. Giving developers a specific hardware target is crucial, and having consumers feel like they need to immediately upgrade is bad.

However, I think there is room for an advanced SD that's not necessarily "new" but just an external improvement over the existing model at a higher price tier for those looking for a premium experience.

Also I'm going to be nitpicking here, don't take that the wrong way, I love the SD but it does have some weak points.

So then Steam Deck LE would be identical to the current one with the exception of:

  • The screen. Wow this is probably the greatest weakness of the SD. A larger display with smaller bezels and better color accuracy would go a long way to improving the experience.

  • Hall Effect joysticks. Again, nitpicking here but it'd be nice to see a premium version with these included.

  • 1TB SSD. I originally bought the 64GB version thinking I would just use an SD card no problem. But the ridiculous amount of shader cache, the various Proton versions (~1GB each) and some other software like EmuDeck and Heroic, as well as the annoyance of moving things back and forth had me upgrading quickly to a 1TB, which immediately ended all of those concerns.

  • Different color ways. I'm partial to white but a transparent purple version would be nice to see also.

  • At least 1 more USB-C port... so we can do things like video out while charging.

What else would you like to see added?

Remember that time Elon said he totally was not going to ban a single specific person when he bought Twitter and then turned around and did exactly that just a few days later?

Hi friends. I switched to Fedora and been using it for several months now. I am now using it 90% of the time but do occasionally have to boot into Windows.

I have run into a space limitation, so I want to reallocate some disk space from Windows to Fedora.

I was able to successfully unallocated space from the Windows partition but haven't been able to reallocate it to the Fedora partition.

Preferably using CLI as little as possible... 😫

Thanks in advance!

So encryption is dead in the UK?

Do they not realize there are messaging services that don't even have a central server or even an entity responsible?

Or companies that don't even have a presence in the UK, and thus no responsibility to comply with their laws?

Pedos will just download and install something like Keet or Signal or Session while the privacy and security of law-abiding citizens are irrevocably compromised...

“I’m allowed to have these documents. I’m allowed to take these documents…When I have them, they become unclassified. People think you have to go through a ritual. You don’t, at least in my opinion.”

This guy thinks when someone hands him documents that they become "unclassified".

I don't even know what to say to that. How was this man ever President of the fucking country... He's a fucking moron.

The absolute worst possible time for system and game updates is when I am booting up the device or starting a game.

My Fedora and Windows OSs both give you a "update and shut down" option. This is the best time to do updates.

When Steam is a desktop program, it obviously is not involved in the OS and not aware when you are shutting down but when Steam IS the OS? Seems like a fairly obvious inclusion.

Now obviously there can be additional mandatory updates between startups, but this would at least help to minimize those.

Why is this not standard? Is this something the community could develop? Maybe via plug-in?

I realize that Mastodon is specifically intended not to have any sort of algorithm, and I understand and appreciate that, but it's not what I want, personally. I want to have the posts in my feed sorted by the ones with the most "engagement" as those are likely the most interesting ones.

People think of AI as some sort omniscient being. It's just software spitting back the data that it's been fed. It has no way to parse true information from false information because it doesn't actually know anything.

Funding your project with donations is just not a realistic long-term goal. This is why so many instances fold up shop in just a couple of weeks as their servers are overloaded and no one donates money to keep it up.

Capitalism is a problem but it doesn't mean everything has to be socialism. There can be an in-between.
