The arrogance of Kent is ridiculous and he sounds like a man-child throwing a neck beard flavored tantrum whenever someone questions the bullshit reality that doesn't actually exist. This isn't some dumb application you can run into the ground because you can't play well with others. This is the fucking linux kernel, and if you can't fathom how bad it is to throw random "fixes" at the last minute instead of waiting for the next development cycle, you are the problem. I see that shit all the damn time in corporate environments and I am sick of arrogant programmers who can't understand processes, why they exist, and why they need to be followed.

There are also a variety of IUDs now and none of them look like the solid metal monstrosity in the picture. They are mostly plastic.

Edit: I guess I should mention as someone who has one that they are not exactly fun to get inserted. Most doctors don't numb you or give you anything to soften the cervix. Take some ibuprofen and suck it up. However, I would never go back to other forms of birth control. No periods. No remembering to take a pill. No crying in the fetal position in a pool of blood and pain. No more hormone induced mania. The list goes on...

Only people I ever have a problem with are Project Managers. I have had way more bad experiences with utterly psychotic PMs than PMs who are actually good at their job. Everybody else is super cool, but I swear all of you are alcoholics. At least Sales pays for the drinks?

As a general reminder, if you have fallen and the helmet took the impact, replace the helmet. If your helmet has been damaged through other means, replace it. They are not meant to be reused after keeping your brain within its skull.

Just like hardhats, you want to inspect them frequently and there is a good chance they have expiration dates. I would be cautious painting them as the chemicals may damage the integrity of the helmet, especially the foam. We always just covered them in stickers. When in doubt, check with the manufacturer.

Please don't suggest this, but I entirely appreciate you are trying to help. Bouncing around on random medications is a nightmare, especially when you have been on a medication that works for you. I am pretty sure most people who are experiencing shortage issues are abundantly aware that there are "potential" alternatives, but why the hell do we have to be punished in the first place? To make matters worse, certain manufacturers make the drug differently enough to have wildly different side effects. Super not fun. I still don't think I can get the generic I was on before that didn't mess with me.

I got lucky and found that I was able to get name brand a lot easier than generic, and the side effects were way better. I am thankful I can afford it, but a lot of people can't. Getting your medications right, period, is unbelievably stressful, especially when you are on more than one. Things don't always play nice.

Wait, the new UI I got yesterday? With the servers and messages finally finally separated? I like it personally. I struggle to find my DMs on the desktop app vs servers and never found the overall UI intuitive. I am usually the first to get upset over UI changes (looking at you Google Messages!), but for once I am happy.

I was curious as I couldn't help but laugh, but damn dude. That is rough. Hilarious looking at it now, but I feel bad for whomever was at the receiving end.

Of course, I'd also suggest that whoever was the genius who thought it was a good idea to read things ONE FUCKING BYTE AT A TIME with system calls for each byte should be retroactively aborted. Who the fuck does idiotic things like that? How did they not die as babies, considering that they were likely too stupid to find a tit to suck on?

38% of my bug reports come from the Linux community My game - ΔV: Rings of Saturn (shameless plug) - is out in Early Access for two years now, and as you can expect, there are bugs. But I did find that a disproportionally big amount of these bugs was reported by players using Linux to play. I started to investigate, and my findings did surprise me.

Let’s talk numbers. Percentages are easy to talk about, but when I read just them, I always wonder - what is the sample size? Is it small enough for the percentage to be just noise? As of today, I sold a little over 12,000 units of ΔV in total. 700 of these units were bought by Linux players. That’s 5.8%. I got 1040 bug reports in total, out of which roughly 400 are made by Linux players. That’s one report per 11.5 users on average, and one report per 1.75 Linux players. That’s right, an average Linux player will get you 650% more bug reports.

A lot of extra work for just 5.8% of extra units, right?

Wrong. Bugs exist whenever you know about them, or not. Do you know how many of these 400 bug reports were actually platform-specific? 3. Literally only 3 things were problems that came out just on Linux. The rest of them were affecting everyone - the thing is, the Linux community is exceptionally well trained in reporting bugs. That is just the open-source way. This 5.8% of players found 38% of all the bugs that affected everyone. Just like having your own 700-person strong QA team. That was not 38% extra work for me, that was just free QA!

But that’s not all. The report quality is stellar. I mean we have all seen bug reports like: “it crashes for me after a few hours”. Do you know what a developer can do with such a report? Feel sorry at best. You can’t really fix any bug unless you can replicate it, see it with your own eyes, peek inside and finally see that it’s fixed.

And with bug reports from Linux players is just something else. You get all the software/os versions, all the logs, you get core dumps and you get replication steps. Sometimes I got with the player over discord and we quickly iterated a few versions with progressive fixes to isolate the problem. You just don’t get that kind of engagement from anyone else.

Worth it? Oh, yes - at least for me. Not for the extra sales - although it’s nice. It’s worth it to get the massive feedback boost and free, hundred-people strong QA team on your side. An invaluable asset for an independent game studio.
