You seem to be implying that handguns don't count even though it has happened, or actual attempts, multiple times. Ok...?

Handguns did the job on Ronald Reagan and almost for Gerald Ford.

Leaving Abe Lincoln to one side, but if you are lucky and your security detail is a bit lax, a handgun can get the job done. I'm Australian, so we don't see much of that sort of thing.

This will not go well.

Europe is not designed for oversized cars. As soon as you are off the "A" roads, it is goat tracks in every direction. And, you can forget about parking. Regular cars have enormous trouble already. Every new car gets panel damage within a couple of weeks. Put those monster US vehicles in the villages it will be carnage.

I mean, have you followed what's been happening in the last two months?

I've aged 28 years.

I think that it's about 50 or so days till the election. I'm not even American and it's so goddamned exhausting.

I think that if he wants to stay out of prison he might have to.

Totally non-weird response to a journalist asking questions.

Well, the Trump team has been panicking in anticipation of this happening. They have already started launching law suits trying to stop it. The biggest scare they had was Biden's age and that may have just vaporised?

Germany, 1933, calling.

What I find fascinating is the total number of numbskulls and cartoon villains, all collected under the Trump banner, and that lunatic mob may very well take government.

What's the hell wrong with American voters?

[-] slickgoat@lemmy.world 62 points 4 months ago

Subpoena them one by one and confront them about specific issues. For instance Thomas and all those billionaire friends who keep dropping money in his lap. Congress committees have the power to do this.

Let sunlight into the dirty little acts of corruption and impeach. Hit them instead of just complaining all the damn time. Also, six or seven year term limits. Then every single president will get a chance to appoint a couple and the bench makeup will be more balanced.

Not American either, but the situation looking from the outside is pretty horrendous. The solution is not to vote for him, or to turn out in such numbers that it would be impossible for him to get in.

Here's the rub, about fifty percent of your voters either want him, or don't care enough either way.

So many millions of your people are toying with the idea of soaking yourselves in fuel and flicking a match.

You actually have the solution - get out and vote and get your families and friends out too, or suffer the consequences.
