I learned how many times I can jerk off in a day. The pandemic was hard for us single folk.

[-] nehal3m@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

Hard and soft. Alternatingly.

It was about 6 before I hit a psychological wall and didn't want to do it anymore that day.

[-] umulu@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Dammmm...

That's a serious addiction. Have you gotten better at managing it?

[-] balderdash9@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 year ago

Like I said, the pandemic was a rough time. Also that's my all-time-best >.<

[-] AnalogyAddict@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

Nothing. Lockdown was the moment everyone else started living the way I pretty much already did.

[-] shandrakor@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Hey me too! I had friends and family asking me how I got through the days and now we all read a lot and have many plants.

[-] rynzcycle@kbin.social 18 points 1 year ago

I can cut my own hair now, it's great. Not only the money, but the convenience of getting a touch up whenever I want is great.

[-] Oldbean@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

I learned how to grow mushrooms and now I always have an ample supply.

[-] SHamblingSHapes@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago

I've been thinking about giving this a go. Any resources you recommend to start out with?

[-] Oldbean@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Mostly from Reddit unfortunately. I actually miss those communities. Uncle Ben’s tech is the method I started with. You might find some YouTube videos with that search, but I’m almost positive there is still the uncle Ben’s subreddit. You also need to find a spore supplier, of course I found mine through Reddit.

[-] SHamblingSHapes@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks. That's what I've been finding as well. Unfortunate, such a wealth of community-built knowledge and they had to go and ruin reddit.

I had a nightmare last night that Wikipedia started to enshittify. I woke up and donated $. I desperately don't want them to follow down the drain chasing reddit and YT.

[-] nehal3m@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 year ago

I learned to stop caring so much about work. I slam my laptop shut with a vengeance at 5PM, earlier if I feel like I can get away with it.

[-] pete_the_cat@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Learned how to become a "home barista". Instead of popping a pod in my Nespresso machine I grind my own beans and brew my own coffee fresh, every morning.

[-] boogetyboo@aussie.zone 3 points 1 year ago

I can do decent espresso art now which I'm pretty chuffed about.

[-] pete_the_cat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I never attempted latte art, probably because the only milk foamer I have is the one that came with my newspaper machine

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Better communication with my wife

I learned to repair a carburator for a vintage motorcycle with my dad. I bought the bike with the carburator in a box for $300. I probably put around $500 more into it of which new tires cost around $200.

That was more than 3 years ago and still ride it today. I've done done some maintenance work myself, like changing the oil, brake pads and fluid, and other minor things.

[-] fastandcurious@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Bringing life to something old always gives so much joy..

[-] DontMakeMoreBabies@kbin.social 12 points 1 year ago

I baked SO much bread... But now I don't really have the time anymore.

[-] intensely_human@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago

I learned how to move the ship backwards by alternating harpoon pulls.

This was before I realized that you could turn the ship using only the wheel even when you had no forward momentum.

But still, I felt like a genius the first time I backed the brigantine out of a dead end.

[-] boogetyboo@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

You sound like an old timey whaler and it's very pleasing. Not the implications for the whales. Just the old timey sea-ness.

[-] sodalite@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 year ago

Made some progress towards Spanish fluency. Still not fully fluent, but went up a CEFR level.

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Hiding alcohol from my girlfriend and family.

[-] iHUNTcriminals@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Wanna start a business? Vodka that comes in what looks like a 24 pack of Poland springs?

[-] AtHeartEngineer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That's not good mate, please get some help

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It was a joke about dystopic pandemic days, and thank you for your reasonable concern. We have this worked out.

[-] AtHeartEngineer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Cool, ok, good to hear. Lol sorry, I appreciate dark humor, but have also watched a lot of alcoholics fuck their life up and cause a lot of family problems.

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Drinking is definitely fucked up. I've had problems with that personally, friends and family sure have had their own plus with me. Once it's really going it's difficult to do basically anything productive at all.

[-] Presi300@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I learned approximately 100 ways to cheat in online exams or exercises, even if they make you share your screen or have camera enabled, which has been immensely useful to me for reasons I do not need to explain...

[-] oicasado@lemmy.eco.br 6 points 1 year ago

I learned to let go, I used to have a hard time removing people from my life, now I don't care

[-] SHamblingSHapes@lemmy.one 6 points 1 year ago

I got significantly better at brewing beer.

I make my own Greek yogurt now. I like it much better than store-bought.

I improved in two languages. I'm not great at either but they've helped me build rapport with work colleagues and have come in handy while traveling.

I finished a master's degree and all the skills that entails.

How to take estrogen and anti androgens

[-] disconnectikacio@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Ive learned: Lockdown is mainly good

-no mandatory work from office days

-i can go motorbiking on country curvy roads, without much traffic, and feel like im on a trackday

-low traffic calm streets

-sadly plaza people dont watch tv, but they go for a short walk to the hiking places, with their 5t SUVs to take a selfie to upload on facebook.

-our government (hungary) of course does not helps small businesses while hard times, but giving even more money to the dictator's (orban's) strawman (lőrinc mészáros), and spending billions on useless anti-snoring devices anti-snoring devices, and very expensive, but shitty and useless chinese covid vaccines.

[-] fastandcurious@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The lockdown really gave us a look of how if we collectively tried to not ruin the planet, how much more fun it would be, it was so nice not to have a clogged nose every morning..

[-] killeronthecorner@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Disciplined working from home. Some people seem incapable of it, either due to distraction or at the other end of the spectrum, overworking themselves.

I allow some flexibility for errands and appointments, but I start and finish at the same time every day and take my lunch at the same time.

[-] OceanSoap@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

I'm one of those who can't. Temptation to nap is too strong. Also I have that procrastination issue where I'd rather be cleaning the floor with a toothbrush than do work, so it's hard not to do housechores when I hit a wall in my day.

On top of that, I need more face-to-face socialization. I just do. I need to go somewhere that's not my house every day or I spiral and it's not pretty.

[-] Meltrax@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Learned how to make espresso at home, still do so every day.

[-] curiousPJ@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

How to quit an 'essential' job without any advanced notice and move 300 miles.

Okay, putting away the snarky attitude.

Resume and interviewing skills in my specific career. Pleasantly surprised with the job offers I got during the pandemic.

[-] dylpickles@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I learned to play guitar which was fun I guess

Home surgery is still saving me money.

[-] ndguardian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I like to think I've gotten better at my music production skills. Not useful necessarily, but enjoyable.

[-] chemicalwonka@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

stay alive everyday

[-] OhmsLawn@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I didn't get a day off the whole time, but sourdough. Starter's still alive, but I don't make it very often these days.

[-] Arthur_Leywin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago
