This seems to be random. These are communities on the instance I'm logged into. AFAICT I'm not being blocked in these communities. I'm not even sure if mods *can *block someone from seeing a community. I'm guessing this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a thread on it.

Have you blocked them? You won't see them while you're logged in if you block them.

Doesn't look like it. It's not in my list of blocks. I can navigate to the community, but none of the posts are shown. It's just an empty feed.

Do you have your languages set to both "Undetermined" and "English" in your settings? I had a problem seeing some posts with only one language selected.

Do you have "Show Read Posts" turned on in the settings?

[-] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 months ago

Weird. Are you using a client?

Does that happen on the actual site?

Oh it's not NSFW and you're blocking NSFW stuff is it?

[-] minibyte@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 months ago

I wonder if it’s some kind of weird shadow ban.

[-] RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 6 months ago

Shadow ban is different though. You can still post and interact but no one else sees you.

[-] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

lemmy is fully open source (and other activitypub implementations), are shadow bans even a thing?

[-] ytsedude@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Are you using Voyager? I've noticed a similar thing and didn't know if it was a Lemmy issue or Voyager issue.
