That's so transparently the bare minimum separation needed to make sure they can't be sued for blatantly buying votes. Fucking heinous anti-American tactics.

[-] just_another_person@lemmy.world 30 points 2 months ago

"Just asking questions, brah"

That's what separates this. They want real polling data, not realizing the only shitheads who would answer this call are poor Trump voters who don't know any better.

Let's be real though, after all the grifts he's been pulling on this people, they could ALL use $47.

blatantly buying votes

That's assuming you believe Elon's good for the money. How many times has this guy walked out when the check came due?

It would be quaint to go back to the era of vote buying machine politics. This is just another scam from our nation's premiere scam artist.

[-] WhatYouNeed@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

Well, he is an apartheid era South African.

[-] Zerlyna@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

I am curious what is the limit? I didn’t think any amount is legal.

[-] Nuke_the_whales@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Is he one of the law breaking immigrants we were warned about? Will Elon eat my dog?

[-] distantsounds@lemmy.world 46 points 2 months ago

Imagine selling your soul for $47 only to have the check bounce

[-] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 2 months ago

It’ll turn out to be $47 X-bucks. (bux?). USD Value is $0.47.

[-] Archer@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Isn’t that just Truth Social stock?

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 41 points 2 months ago

He won’t actually pay out. He’ll die in arbitration before he sends any money.

[-] sfbing@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago

If I lived in one of those states, is there anything to keep me from signing in, collecting the money, and vote Dems anyway?

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 41 points 2 months ago

Nothing except the realization that Elon isn't going to cut anyone a check.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

That'd be a contract violation and could be class actioned.

[-] RonnieB@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

No, you can't pay someone to vote a certain way.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago

Oh you definitely can't - but Elon is offering compensation for a petition... if he fails to properly compensate petitioners he absolutely could be brought a class action or individual small claims for contract violation.

[-] RonnieB@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Oh I misunderstood what you meant, my mistake. Yep, you're right.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

No worries!

[-] Doom@ttrpg.network 2 points 2 months ago

nope you don't have to do shit

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

That fucker's high as a kite

[-] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 months ago

Low as a slug.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

please don't make up fake people and submit it.

[-] ShittyBeatlesFCPres@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

You’d think the owner of a shady software company would know he could get that information from data brokers. Hell, voter rolls are usually available for a relatively small fee: https://www.ncsl.org/elections-and-campaigns/access-to-and-use-of-voter-registration-lists

Any competent campaign would already have identified their likely voters.

[-] SolarMonkey@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 months ago

I’ve gotten a lot of crap from conservatives this year. First time that’s really happened. Usually just get stuff from dems.

So I’m leaning toward they didn’t buy targeted data, they just bought the cheapest data they could. They may have no idea who their likely voters are.

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 2 months ago

Florida and Texas are trying really hard to be swing states, we should send him contact info of D.trump and E.musk

[-] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

So that’s what his shirt says

[-] BigBenis@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago
[-] fern@lemmy.autism.place 2 points 2 months ago

His mother took it.

[-] IamtheMorgz@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Hey I'm a swing state voter! Can I sign up myself for the money? I will sign saying I support the first and second amendments (I really like that part in the second about the "well regulated militia"). I mean, $47 is $47.

[-] dirthawker0@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

We should get Democrats to fake sign up for this, get the money, and donate it to Kamala.

[-] snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

$47 space bucks.
