I’m ready to face Christmas now.
Holy shit that is brilliant! Compare with my laughable effort
Love the sloth!
Our way of pretending Christmas is coming v e r y s l o w l y
I love yours! It's so wholesome!!!! 😍 Big cozy vibes!
Here's mine for this year which fits the mood
That yew tree has seen 150 xmasses. Great grand parents would be rolling over in their grave if they saw that.
Edit wonder if anyone has put a goon bag and peanut butter on a yew tree before. Could be a world first.
I like the idea of a poisonous Christmas tree 😈
That's beautiful
Got a delayed buttock / hamstring injury from moving concrete the other day.
No-one expects the ~~Spanish inquisition~~ delayed buttock injury.
Our chief weapon is buttocks, buttocks and glutes, glutes and buttocks. Our two weapons are glutes and buttocks, and ruthless hamstrings. Our three weapons are glutes and buttocks and ruthless hamstrings and an almost fanatical dedication to the arse.
It’s nice seeing people’s Christmas trees. I myself don’t decorate because no kids and can’t be bothered. There are a couple of houses nearby that do lots of lights and I look forward to them putting their decorations up. So to all the decorators out there, thankyou for the Christmas spirit, sincerely from the non-decorators. We appreciate it.
Goodnight all ❤️
olive buns are done
Man, I really have to go out more. I'm the awkward person in the group tonight.
Admittedly I'm the outsider in a somewhat close knit group, but still.
Noted.
Back from shopping. Soooooo humid. Preston market is crazed, they had the misting spray on to cool people down - in close to 100% humidity. Not terribly effective.
Side note : found a lonely block of frozen tofu at the bottom of the freezer. I'm bored with my usual marinades so any suggestions? I usually do either a curry paste based one or a standard soy/mirin/chilli one.
I ❤️my Teriyaki Sauce:
1/2 cup low sodium Tamari (or soy sauce)
3/4 cup pineapple juice
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
5 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
2 teaspoons grated garlic
1 teaspoon sesame oil.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the Tamari, pineapple juice, vinegar, brown sugar, ginger, garlic and sesame oil. Whisk to combine well.
Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to medium low. Continue to cook for 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from heat to cool and set aside.
SENPAI NOTICED MEEEEEE
~will upload screenshot when Lemmy stops being a jerk and timing out~
I've died and gone to heaven 😍🩶😍🩶😍
can I just add , this weather is really shitty for humans
but it's good for bread making so today I will be making a dozen olive bread dinner rolls and I'll add a cup of warm milk to the mix to make it extra soft, tender and milky white.
Two breakfast day today 😍 scrambled eggs on toast with avo first. Then cafe at 1130 W my friend to play some chess and have a bagel and coffee
Place is looking a bit more habitable, wfh desk setup, still very cluttered and need to get rid of the poang footstool (chair in bedroom piled with crap) which will open up more space.
Let's hope my plants will look this lush over the next 6 months! These are the survivors after many deaths (and much neglect in a sunnier place).
tropical
So what's everyone doing tonight?
Drinking beer in my armchair and playing games
Babysitting. So watching minions probably. Party on
Staying in with Minipeelers and trying to decide on a movie to watch.
Putting up the tree with beers, not sure about mixing alcohol with untangling and placing Christmas lights but let’s see what happens.
The amount of sales-related emails and texts I’ve been getting is staggering. More than any previous year I feel. These businesses ask for a mobile for an online order and then it gets used to spam promotions. Mass unsubscribing is in order.
I don't understand how people can eat a hsp in one go. I have a small one and this is at least 3 meals.
Blue skies, smilin' at me ... for the first time today.
We'll go with this one, the daily threads have been creeping too far before the day they're for.
I'm fine with a little early, it's better than too late.
Shoutout to the time I had a nap and woke up at 6pm thinking it was 6am and made a new thread thinking no one else did
Not sure what happened but sometimes we have to make it early because we have to do it manually and it was taking a toll on people staying up when they needed to sleep.
In the interests of looking after people that’s the concession we arrived at to look after people so in the grand scheme of things it’s not a big problem.
Brion, are you volunteering to stay up til 12 every night to start the thread?
Paloma time!! Cheers, all!
Hectic rain on its way, thank goodness - it's been so warm and humid overnight!
Gonna have a bit of a lie in and then start on moving around shit in the living room and unpacking that stuff once and for all. And putting together the damn bookshelf.
While we were heading from Hay towards Echuca last night, we saw this crazy thing:
Sure hope that's not on its way...
Errrrgh. Morning. It's raining. And I have to do a big shopping. Errrrgh. Does anyone sell intravenous coffee?
No xmas tree but bI've assembled the bookcase after much effort...
rant at self
...and stupidly not trying to look up what it was beforehand (it's an old mid-2000s model of IKEA Bestå shelf, the label was barely legible).
In doing so, tried doing it the wrong way around entirely and irreversibly snapped the tip of 6 cam lock screw/dowels that are discontinued (114928), on one entire side. The sides and centre part of the shelf no longer lock onto that side.
I've put the working ones facing the bottom so it still stands, thankfully, but it means this shelf isn't even worth giving away for free when I move out, it'll have to go to the tip.
Even though there's a replacement part on thingiverse, I don't have access to a 3d printer and it'd take a lot of effort to dislodge the old snapped ones, plus I've badly scuffed the edges of the bookshelf after all this wrangling.
Really annoyed with myself because i hate sending shit to landfill out of my own carelessness, but I'm going to have to just move on (and remind myself at least my consumption and waste ends with me).
At least the bookshelf is still usable for now and I can start moving shit onto it so I can finish unpacking. And it's probably had a good run. Still, feeling low... need a win... that doesn't involve spending money...
it ain't much, but it's honest work
If it helps you can sometimes borrow access to 3D printers at makerspaces. They would absolutely let you print out a replacement especially if it’s small
Slept straight through the night. ~10pm-5am.
It was worth going out!
Was decent and Defs feeling a lot better despite not having heaps in common with the people.
Time for leftover HSP, Cat cuddles and PS5
I’m going through my social media profiles retrieving anything I might want to keep and deciding who to give an email address to. Perhaps a vpn might help me continue using them but then if I get caught that’s it.
I’m not expecting many people with weaker ties to keep in contact if I close them.
Ps. This isn’t actually going to protect children, just drive them underground and into unregulated spaces. It’s 100% a grab for surveillance/control and cheap political point scoring on the part of the Australian government
Slowly trying to reorganise my living room and unpack in bits and bobs. Realising how goddamn little space this place has sigh. Can't fit my wfh desk and my bookshelf on the same side of the room without the bookshelf completely blocking access to the blind cords and window winder... unless I have my desk facing the window but that seems like a really bad idea. Then again, I doubt I'll be wfh that often. It would help if I didn't have all these damn boxes in the way...
Androids update for my phone has changed all my overlay weather thingies to Fahrenheit. I've gone into every setting I can find and changed it back to Celsius, I've restarted my phone, but it's still Fahrenheit.
😑😑😑😑
If anyone is wondering, it's currently 68°F
