Is it worth paying 6€ for ?
I recently got an iPad, it's the first Apple device I've use. I am still not over the fact that I need to pay for a thing as basic as an ad-blocker, and that it will only work with Safari...

Welcome to the Apple world
I use AdGuard and Vinegar Extract (Vinegar without the adblock part). IIRC those are free and work well for me, so try them first.
Vote for AdGuard
I even paid for the pro version. They deserve it!
Second Vinegar. It’s an awesome little add-on.
I’d say so. I haven’t upgraded to Wipr 2, yet, but Wipr 1 is effective and simple. AdGuard has a free version that is good but, for whatever reason, involves a lot more settings changes. AdGuard has the advantage of letting you select elements and block them. Wipr doesn’t, don’t know if Wipr 2 has that.
If you want free, try AdGuard or Firefox Focus.
There’s wBlock if you can’t justify the cost. I just prefer supporting indie devs. Not sure how effective it is against YouTube ads though.

There are a lot of options to block ads. I don’t pay for any apps and don’t see any ads on my Apple devices.
I’ve been using AdGuard for years, and I don’t ever have any problems with YouTube ads.
And it’s free
confirmed.
I’m unfamiliar with Wipr is it worth $6 for the new one or just pay $2 for the original?
I use KaBlock and Hush Nag Blocker. Both apps are availiable for macOS as well as for iOS. They are made to work with Safari. So far I haven't had any issues with ads, even when watching Youtube videos. They are free. I would give them a try first. If they don't work for you, you always can purchase wipr later.
Which one do you like better? I try not to overload my phone content blockers because it’s hard to troubleshoot if a site breaks. I see Hush Nag claims they are FOSS so I’m leaning towards it.
I discovered KaBlock first, and it did its job. I did not test it with Youtube tho. A couple of weeks ago someone mentioned Hush Nag Blocker and I installed it as well. I think they complete each other, as Hush makes Cookie-Banners disappear, which KaBlock doesn't. Both KaBlock and Hush seem to block ads from Youtube - I haven't experienced ads on smartphone so far (I skipped into maybe 3 to 5 videos on it in the last couple of weeks, as I have a data plan that isn't tailored for video streaming).
Paying for a YouTube ad blocker instead of just paying for YouTube Premium seems a little silly.
YouTube premium just went up to like $80/month didn’t it? Seems a bit more than $5.
No, you’re thinking of YouTube TV. Different service.
Gotcha, I thought they were the same service.
Why cant the dev just update the original wipr? Why the need for wipr 2?
I bought the original wipr years ago. Havent used it in favor of adguard.
Because app developers can’t support themselves with a $5 app that people use for half a dozen years.
Skip buying one drink or appetizer and pay for an app to support people who make great things.
Appies are like $13 where I am. A beer, $7-9.
This is a steal!
