The cyber truck is exactly what I would expect from someone whos only job experience is memes and shitposts. A rolling dumpster fire, mocked by everyone.

Eh, my kids think they're cool, so they have the K-6 market cornered.

[-] SPRUNT@lemmy.world 10 points 11 hours ago

No offense to your kids specifically, but children are dumb as fuck.

[-] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 hours ago

No offense taken. To them, being "different" is enough, unless "different" gets you bullied, facts just get in the way.

[-] Malfeasant@lemm.ee 1 points 9 hours ago

Kids aren't dumb, just inexperienced.

Ol kekius dick suckius made the shittiest car in existence

[-] noxypaws@pawb.social 77 points 2 days ago

I actually, genuinely thought it was an accidental fire.

Speaks to the shit reputation those shit trucks deservedly have. But also how dumb of a location for an intentional fire.

[-] Madison420@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

See that's the thing.

Is a trunk/bed full of fireworks and gas average cyber truck stupidity or a real lazy attempt at arson/terrorism.

[-] Jiggle_Physics@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 day ago

I think it might have been more about the message a burning cybertruck, in front of a trump hotel, right by the trump sign, sends, than it was about the violence. Especially since the person is military trained and knew this wasn't going to go all OKC federal building.

For like 3 hours, it was glorious as my friend group wondered what part of the Cybertruck could have spontaneously combusted.

Then video came out and there's colorful lights and we still weren't sure.

It took a official report before we accepted it was a car bomb.

All I read is the truck bed was filled with flammables. ' Is there a believable source for

A. Whether the driver started the fire or it was sparked on accident.

B. If it was not intentional, what was the actual target?

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

Some surprisingly low end explosives for a decorated green beret guy with his level of access. Fireworks and petrol cans?

I’m still not sure if it was an intentional car bomb or if he was transporting fireworks to use later that night and something about the car set them off.

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

A fully enclosed in non-air conditioned truck bed with a black lid in Las Vegas heat perhaps?

Is still probably intentional, otherwise it’s one of the more epic Darwin Awards.

Edit: Autocorrect stole my un from air conditioned.

My first thought was literally "was it a bomb or did the batteries ignite?"

[-] JokeDeity@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago

I WANT to give him that credit, but he's never made anything in his life.

[-] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

Made? Probably not. But I'm sure he's responsible for pushing them out onto the streets knowing what potentially dangerous garbage they are.

"The future should look like the future." - Elon Musk

The cybertruck future looks like 1982's Blade Runner.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

That's highly insulting to Blade Runner, which had very stylish vehicles.

It looks like a shell on an El Camino in a straight-to-video 1980s Mad Max ripoff.

[-] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago

I'd been comparing them to the models for the Quake mod Quake rally some time, I actually went to verify that I was remembering Quake Rally correctly and now I have to stop because the 90s video game mod had higher poly counts.

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Syd Mead should slap you in the face for saying that.

[-] TwoFacedJanus1968@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Hey, it was supposed to look bad. A dystopian future where the entire earth was basically a third world country where all the good stuff was manufactured for the off world colonies.

The Delorean fan in me loves the asthetic and used to get jealous.

Cyber trucks being POS deathtraps that basically fall to pieces when you breath on them, their inability to do anything a normal truck can do, and the fact they make you bleed touching an door alleviated that completely.

So thanks for making them embarrassing junkers, Elon.

[-] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 25 points 2 days ago

The Delorean fan in me loves the asthetic and used to get jealous.

I almost agree with you, but the subtle changes made from the concept to reality make it not even look cool like it could've

If Trump were already in office I would still think they were covering it up with the claims of explosives.

Now please all aboard the SpaceX rocket everybody! A 6 barrel revolver with a single bullet is added for a fun game of Russian roulette. Just to out your mind at ease, the gun is not the biggest threat to your life.

SpaceX hasn't killed anyone, incidentally it's also the company musk has the least power over.
