Anyone with a truck carrying giant flags. If you are in the US, you know what I mean.

Not one of our best exports

We breed our own here, too, unfortunately

I'm conflicted by this because the other day, I saw one of these with LGBTQ+ flags and not the typical American, Mexican, Rattlesnake or Trump 2024 flags.

Still, it was on a giant truck clearly not for working on a farm or hauling anything but ass and those giant flags are obnoxious no matter what they are signalling.

[-] bentruck@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Doesn't help the 1.5C that's for sure.

[-] Xeelee@kbin.social -1 points 1 year ago

Anyone with a truck that doesn't own a farm or is a contractor.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I guess no one else need to haul shit, huh.

Lifted trucks. My assurance goes up 10x if they have rims and tires meant for the road.

[-] HoboTurducken@mander.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Lifted Dodge Ram. They are more likely to be drunk too.

[-] instamat@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Welcome to my new segment, You Might Want to Know?

Dodge and Ram are two different brands and product lines. Rams are the trucks, and Dodge makes muscle vehicles.

But as to your point, you're more right than you possibly know!

[-] HoboTurducken@mander.xyz 1 points 1 year ago

Knowledge is knowing that Ram is now itcs own brand. Wisdom is knowing only nerds who use federated social media would care. Understanding is appreciating all new content people provide.

[-] instamat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Um, ackshually… I know, it’s pedantic 😩

[-] redsol2@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

My friend and I bought trucks around the same time. Mine is a simple tradesman Ram, no bells and whistles, primarily for moving and hauling stuff that can't fit in my wife's sedan.

I'm a pretty passive driver. Live and let live, y'know?

My friend had a similar personality when he first got his Tundra (of course with all the extras he can afford). Then he goes and spends $10,000 on a lift, winch, and floodlights. Now he's like a different person. He drives super aggressively, whipping round corners, weaving through traffic going 20mph over on the highway. He was driving me through some quiet neighborhood the other day and nearly mowed over a cyclist. I asked him what the hell he was doing and he shrugged and said "if she's gonna ride a bike in the street, she's gotta look out for trucks. Not my fault if she doesn't see me"

TL;DR - truck drivers are fine, a truck is a tool like any other vehicle. Lifting your truck turns you into a redneck scumbag overnight though apparently.

[-] jpreston2005@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Ram Trucks. according to research, these vehicles are the most likely to be driven, and wrecked, by a drunk driver. People who instinctively idolize an animal that solves it's problems by smashing them with it's face... probably not the best people to drive near.

[-] N0mD3Plum3@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Living in Australia where US trucks really don't go on our roads well, I can attest to Ram drivers being the most dreadful drivers here. As we've come to call it, Emotional Support Vehicles.

[-] ToastyWaffles@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Among Truck drivers, Rams are usually the objectively worst vehicle for doing trucking activities on a per yearly model basis. So it kinda makes sense the dumbest people with trucks aren't the ones who know anything about truck capabilities either.

[-] Texas_Hangover@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

It's got nothing to do with any weird animal symbolism bro. Thing is, dodge will finance absolutely anybody. And dodge makes a fun vehicle until it breaks down.

[-] SharpMaxwell@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

do rams break down alot? because my father daily drove one for like 20 years without it breaking down

[-] Abualiexpress@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Any truck but Dodge Ram in particular.

[-] legion@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Ram trucks are the official vehicle of domestic abuse.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)
  • Teslas
  • Really large trucks that are clearly not being used for actual work
  • BMWs
  • Lexuses
  • Shitty little ricers that aren't fast, they're just obnoxiously loud
  • Anyone with a rented box truck (like a UHaul) driving in the far left lane of the freeway.
  • Cop cars
[-] Glimpythegoblin@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

I'm surprised to see Lexus on that list.

[-] Stoney_Logica1@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Lifted truck rolling coal is 100% an asshole.

[-] Djangofett@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

Tesla's have become the new BMW drivers from my experience as of late.

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I’d say those extended cab pickup trucks with those big smokestacks, they’re literally made that way to blow smoke in people’s faces, pollute the environment.

[-] soggywhale@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Any cars really, cars have the power to turn any decent human being into soulless sociopath.

[-] Kerred@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

And what's more there is no model associated with not being driven by an asshole. And no one can prove me wrong 😄

To quote George Carlin "ever notice how anyone driving slowly than you is an idiot? And ever notice how anyone driving faster than you is a MANIAC? It's a wonder how we can get anywhere at all with all these idiots and maniacs driving around. "

[-] MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This and big coal rolling, loud ass trucks.

Pick up trucks I get. I'm a tradesman.

But some trucks are absolutely massive, and more often than not MUCH more than the driver needs, and the coal rolling and loudness is just obnoxious af.

Cops still take it tho. Head on a swivel for those shills.

[-] dantheclamman@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If it has giant tow mirrors and is lifted it's 1000% driven by an asshole who tailgates in the right lane

[-] Dinodicchellathicc@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Im old fashioned but i still think only dicks drive bmw's

(EU) SUVs. Are you insecure and too stupid to drive? GET A CAR 20% larger in every dimension so you can piss off the whole world with your incompetence.

[-] ccunix@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Or do you have a genuine reason that makes them advantageous?

I have an SUV because:

  • my mother in law has mobility issues and struggles to get in/out of a saloon.
  • my wife has neck issues and the higher driving position is better for her
  • I like it (ok, that could make me an arsehole)

Truth is that mine (BMW X1) is at most 5cm bigger in any dimension, if at all, than the car on which it is based (Mini Cooper). The extra size is an optical illusion.

[-] Feweroptions@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Also - the mass and form of an SUV makes them a good option in terms of safety. Smaller vehicles get crunched like pop cans, and trucks get sandwiched by their own bed if you hit a solid object.

[-] RBWells@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Making yourself safer by making everyone else less safe still seems like an asshole move to me?

Bumper height should have been regulated on city roads, then we wouldn't have gotten this escalation. Work truck, sure. If you need one, you need one. But people who drive a massive gas guzzler to park it at the office and go up the elevator to work?

[-] Trapadana@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

Actually no. SUVs are great at murdering the drivers of other cars, they do not in fact protect you any better. Its just a big blow up dick for assholes.

[-] Iron_Lynx@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

NL here: Imported American trucks. You do not need a car that costs €5000/month in fuel alone that you cannot use practically in any way that a van, a regular car or even a bakfiets could do more cost-effectively. The only people who go through the effort to get such a vehicle are compensating for something, and a Dodge Ram in The Netherlands is only useful for dick measuring, and the most significant thing it'll ever move is the owner's fragile ego.

[-] 5redie8@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago

We look at those people the same in the US too tbf lol

[-] basxto@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 8 months ago

In NL they have a lot less legitimity, there are no mountains, no huge private farms, no vast plains with subpar roads.

[-] lunaticneko@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

In Thailand the list consists of:

  • Toyota Fortuner
  • Ford Ranger
  • "All New" Isuzu D-Max (LPT: If you are here and pick up a girl and her profile says แม่น้องออนิว "Ornew's Mom" or that kind of shit, GTFO!)
  • Any MG
  • Ora Good Cat
  • Basically any other GWM/Chinese EV
  • Police plate or Army plate cars (the plate has a police shield emblem or army chakra emblem).
  • Any car that has วัดท่าไม้ sticker (probably from a temple known for asshole patrons).
  • Any car that has คณะเรา sticker (surely the driver is an alum at a specific school known for its extremely tight knit alum system and they are willing to use their status or connections unlawfully to get out of trouble).

Bicycle.

Yesterday while driving on a two lane road with a bike lane there were two people on bikes. What appeared to be a man and a woman in full brightly colored garb and helmets. Both were weaving in the bike lane and/or riding on the dividing line between the bike lane and the road. At one point, as a few cars were approaching them from behind, one of them whips over into the center of the road for no reason other than to block traffic thereby forcing the overtaking cars into the oncoming traffic lane. There was no obstruction on the bike lane. The other rider proceeded with weaving about unpredictably. She simply couldn't stand the idea of someone safely passing them and forced an unsafe condition for everyone involved....

Can't Understand Normal Thinking.

I pray that every bike she every rides has a slow leak in both tires no matter how often it is patched or replaced. The more time she spends off the road pumping up the tires, the less time she is endangering herself and others.

Rarely is someone on a bicycle and not an asshole!

[-] ccunix@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

For pulling out into the lane, it may have been called "taking primary".

If the road is not wide enough to pass them safely, that is the best place to be. That way drivers cannot try and squeeze through. Obviously, I cannot speak for the precise road conditions where this happened, but it is legitimate in certain circumstances. Traffic calming is a good example, as it makes the lane too small for a safe overtake. Add in the fact that most cycle lanes in cities are more dangerous than the main carriageway and you can see why cyclists will take the prime quite often.

[-] SexyFlanders138@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This is such a strange perspective. I'm not a bike rider, but never understand people's issues with bikers, joggers, or anything on the road besides cars. Sure, assholes are everywhere, but nearly every biker? That has not been even close to my experience, and I mostly see cars/trucks being unnecessarily aggressive towards bikers and runners.
