She was given extreme leniency because she was the main cooperator with police. There would be no FTX case wihout her. She seemed relieved when it all got cracked open and she seemed remorseful in her interviews and testimonies. So she at least demonstrated remorse enough to convince the police and the court. Whether it's genuine remorse or alligator tears doesn't matter as much as her contribution to getting the bigger fish caught, though. Rewarding cooperators an essential piece of the justice machine.

This is Medici, where they speak Interligua, a sort of blend of Spanish, Catalan, French, and Italian and where the world's largest natural source of bavarium was found. I remember reading about the revolution a few years ago that ousted the dictatorship that got powerful on the back of Bavarium mining. The US was caught blatantly supporting both sides, but the revolutionaries won and now they are a democracy again.

Their accents are different. Bob has a Midwest touch to his speech, as is standard for Illinois kids like him, Steve speaks classic Western New England, typical of his Massachusetts upbringing, which is almost exactly the same as American Standard.

But these two came up in the New York comedy world around the same time. They weren't close but had many mutual colleagues. It might be more about a similar performance style than a regional accent you're noticing.

Unwordly Americans like to pretend people think of the US as the best country in the world. They think this because they have never spoken to someone from outside the US except for the Mexicans they persecute, so they have an empty canvas to fill with all kinds of wild notions.

Politicians are generally worldly enough to know it's not true, but that doesn't win elections.

Some people think criticizing is the same thing as not supporting.

If you want things to get better, you have to honestly and critically examine your leaders, not blindly support them and pretend they are flawless. Shutting down criticism is short-sighted nonsense and will only lead to worse candidates in the future.

Where I live we've had a 4% cap for a long time. It just means tenants get evicted to increase the price. It's illegal, but the procedure to after landlords cheating the system is so grueling and adversarial, it puts justice beyond the reach of many victims. I can only imagine this being even worse in the US.

Common misconception, it's actually "toe the line". I used to think it was tow too.

This is an anxiety response, your body is coursing with cortisol, the stress hormone. These exercises should help. I find square breathing to be especially helpful, but everyone's different. https://www.choosingtherapy.com/anxiety-exercises/

Tech VCs did the same with block chain and the cloud before that. It's an industry that loves it's fads and fashions.

Here in BC, anything but well done burgers are illegal in restaurants. We have steak tartar, but you need to cut the exterior layer of meat away and grind it right before serving. You might get away with doing the same for burgers, but no one does it that I know of.

Plex isn't another evil tech company, it's just full of stupid features and unresolved bugs. Jellyfin just isn't good enough to replace it yet; it's more finicky to setup, isn't as good as matching titles and displaying the metadata, and has fewer features. But it is catching up fast.

I'm a disabled millennial. I live in a dangerous old house with 5 roommates and I am still spending over half my money on rent.
