I assume Peta just wants to be in the news? The Sly Old Fox is not an offensive name.

Yup, I think a lot of people just use their web browser for everything, and they can definitely just switch. Outside of work, how many non-techies have set up their email to use a native program? Very few, in my experience.

I think documents are sometimes the exception, since there's a sizable (perhaps older) group that like to use Word for everything.

The article uses the word modified, but it sounds like it's just talking about configuring it and using it as normal.

A great post, interesting and to the point.

That Jordan (who shot down some of the missiles) agrees that Iran gave warning, I think it's clear that Iran wanted to retaliate without escalating. Israel saying we'll reply when we're ready feels like they're happy to draw a line under it for now.

Hmm, not really. It's only because it nerd-sniped someone who was trying to do something completely unrelated that this came to light. If that person has been less dedicated or less skilled we'd still probably be in the dark.

We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow.
Lord Palmerston, House of Commons, 1 March 1848

People says Kissenger paraphrased this with "America has no permanent friends or enemies, only interests" - afaik there's no evidence of this but either way the quote's older than he is.

A general tip on buying UPSes: look for second hand ones - people often don't realise you can just replace the battery in them (or can't be bothered) so you can get fancier/larger ones very cheap.

The article mentions that "Chrome [has a] more restrictive Manifest 3 plugin API", but doesn't go into any examples, when this one is the main one (and why Google brought in manifest v3 at all).

I think "partnering" is a bit strong - Kagi uses Brave as one of their various sources for search. I agree that Kagi's response was poor, though.

Most people have missed the bit about time dilation messing up the clocks used in signalling, which I thought was interesting at first. However, surely the fix is just as simple as including a timing signal with the transmissions?

It really is genuinely remarkable. If more people lived their lives like OP then the world would be a better place.
