I still don't think the best solution to an under-staffed team is to try to make a competing under-staffed team. I think just contributing would be more helpful for all, especially with the plugin support coming soon to Lemmy

I'm surprised they're still on 0.18.4. They made that big post complaining about moderation actions not federating, then the 0.18.5 hotfix came out and the only change was that fix, and they never updated anyways? I even put a comment on their post to let them know the hotfix for their issue. There's no database changes, it's the simplest update.

sometimes I like to sort posts by "New Comments" so it's like an old style forum, Reddit couldn't do this at all and it was awful, Lemmy's "Active" sort is also pretty good for this

Texture healing works by finding each pair of adjacent characters where one wants more space, and one has too much. Contextual alternates are normally used for certain scripts, like Arabic, where the shape of each glyph depends on the surrounding glyphs. And they are also used for cursive handwriting fonts where the stroke of the “pen” might have different connection points across letters. Texture healing is a novel application of this technology to code.

But we already have horizontal scaling in the form of separate instances. We just need to do a better job staying spread out. Making individual instances bigger is not a good thing, it makes everything more centralized.
Sure. You can fix frame rate drops, play with any controller you want, easier to play with mods, save states, speedup when replaying a game, easier to record video or stream. If you're playing a 3d game you can run in higher resolution with better anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering. For a 2d game sometimes one of the upscaling filters will look good. You can use CRT filter if you want and you don't have a CRT TV. You could do it on Steam Deck and cloud sync your saves with your PC, and even your phone (especially for turn based games)
