I have no idea how your code works but I appreciate it for the excited guy /(oo)/

Apex should take notes. Sadly, they won't.

"This enforcement began in the immediate aftermath of the incident, as part of our standard practice to address content related to violent tragedies."

Tragedy is a strong word.

These sort of comments make me wonder who is reading usernames. I barely ever look because it doesn't matter except in reply threads.

There's still good stuff, but less of it and fewer amateurs sadly. The "amateurs" that are there are all promoting their OnlyFans. The year or so after the sweep was pretty clear how much they lost.

Glad that he eventually got it fixed.

Fortunately, Lifeward eventually capitulated and Straight was able to get his exoskeleton repaired — but that was only after an intense campaign

Still, these are the issues that make me question why anyone is excited for products like brain implants. The longer we can go without commercialised body modifications, the better.

I use the location tracking of Google Maps/Google Timeline constantly for work, and it's exceedingly helpful to know when I was at certain cities, buildings, etcetera. Of course, this means I'm basically signing my soul away to Google. But I can't really find any alternative location tracking apps, even though I would have thought there would be lots available. Are there any good alternatives out there?

The closest I found was Owntracks, but it doesn't work for me for a couple of reasons. Primarily, it doesn't tell me the places I've been, only the latitude/longitude. That isn't helpful. I want to know I was at X or Y convenience store and when my last visit was. Secondly of course, the interface was extremely lacking and I didn't like that it was split across two websites and an app. Why even have a map in the Android app if it doesn't show my location data??

I'll be that guy and say this isn't crappy design and shouldn't be in this community. We've already got posts filling top of all we don't need more where they don't belong.

Game Maker's Toolkit explains Valve's religous playtesting methodology and how it benefitted their games. I recently rewatched this, it's an interesting insight!

I don't think this happens much in real life, I would assume most people use contacts. Though it is a commonly used format for fake text messages meant as memes.

I have used Windows for a decade now and keep using it because my workflows and the application support are there. But as someone that uses Linux on my server, has tried out Linux desktops, and uses WSL, I can confidently say that I am gone if they start charging me a subscription. It will be annoying as hell but just like leaving Reddit I am willing to give up some niceties to keep my money and my morals.

Videos. Viewing your up/downvotes. Profile posts.

Not a feature of Reddit, but I also miss RES features: user tagging, seeing my votes on a user next to their name, advanced post filtering, and more.

This question's on my mind because my coworker today mentioned they would vote for Trump if they could (mind you this is 2023, in Canada). I don't generally have the talking points or the desire to fight about it, so I just deflected the conversation. But I often wish I was more strong-willed and could try to figure out why someone believes what they do and, if it's invalid, then convince them otherwise.

Thus, I'm curious what you all would say or what you've done in the past!

A lot of Lemmy communities need rules against misleading/editorialised headlines already, it's as bad or worse than Reddit right now.

The comedic timing on some of this video is impeccable.

This isn't meant to be a criticism of your post, but as someone who fades in and out of this situation I want to say: "go outside" is not overly helpful advice for people in this situation. I've tried going outside but without a goal to fulfill or any idea of how "normal people" have fun, it's a struggle to make it feel any less empty than being at home. Obviously it's not your job to write a book-length guide on how to live a fulfilling life though, so carry on.
