A more meta one - the Wikipedia list of Lamest edit wars is very entertaining. Entries include: is Hummus Israeli or an illegally occupied Palestinian dip, asking snakes what they think of the Israeli-Palenstine conflict, is 3 always an odd number?, Michael Palin vs Sarah Palin, and should we put a picture of a human bumhole in the article for anus and if so which one?
Yeah if you live in like, Germany or France
More like Europe: sorry we don't ship there lol. Oh we do? Hope you like paying twice the price for shipping that takes two weeks if you're lucky
Looks good! Are those potato pancakes like made from grated potato or mashed potato?
...in what world does Greek yoghurt taste like sour cream? Completely different taste, texture, and purpose
Like consistently? Or just one or two days a year? Because I feel like bringing out the electric heaters a few times a year is way better than just giving up and using fossil fuel all the time
Also I'd mention that heat pumps are super common over here in Scandinavia so I have my doubts that it's an issue with the medium and not something else. Maybe you guys have like, heat pumps that are more designed for the heat rather than the cold?
Demons are real and they live inside your computer delivering your emails and internet. Before computers they used to screw around with physicists and mathematians and break their theories but now they're too busy to do that anymore.
Not religious in the slightest, my dad just saw me asking what Beastie on his BSD machine's screensaver was and decided to fuck with me when he realised I didn't know what a demon (in any sense of the word) was
reason we didn't have wireless charging a hundred years ago
I'm confused what's this about? Please don't tell this is about Tesla's dumb as shit "wireless energy" plan because you know that like, just doesn't work right?
...in a fight right?
Stardew valley - it sells itself as a harvest moon inspired farming Sim but as someone who grew up playing a lot of harvest moon, I really can't help but be super disappointed in it. Harvest moon games have a complex and more importantly moving relationship system - you start to go after one marriage candidate, the others will pair themselves up and have kids alongside you. People move in and out and you need to really get to know people in order to progress the game and unlock things. Stardew valley? Super flat in comparison. All the candidates you don't marry feel super flat once you lock yourself out of them. There's not much locked behind friendship so there's less reason to get out there and really work on befriending everyone.
Also fucking combat - it's a supposedly nice and peaceful farming Sim, yet combat is an unavoidable part of the game. I didn't sign up for combat! It's not fun it's just annoying.
although I couldn't get it to accept whale.
Seriously? I get this is a New Zealand site but like, whale is a normal meat in some places, way more normal than like fugu or something. I could go right now to the local grocery store and pick up a whale steak if I wanted to. It'd be cheaper than a normal beef steak too. Why would they blacklist a meat that's actually eaten in some places?
Anyways the best way to eat whale is to treat it like a tuna steak - little bit of oil and pepper and barely cook it on each side. Traditionally though you like turn it into stroganoff.
Quick update - it won't accept whale but it will accept hval (whale in Norwegian) so enjoy this..."Recipe"
China actually already has a system in place that kinda works for their existing video game restrictions - your accounts are connected to your social ID, or to a social media which in turn is connected to your social ID. Alternatively I wouldn't be surprised if like what they do is connect your SIM card to your national number (which is possible - some countries do it for 2FA for government stuff and banking) which is what they use to control internet usage
...of course it does little against the tried and true method of "using your mum's phone/ID for games"
The reason why umami is the word is because the scientists studying the flavour were Japanese so that's what their paper used to name it. I think the term spread around in the food science world before actually making it down to the layman
Back in the very early 1900s, the Imperial Japanese University was trying to figure out what exactly the 'core' flavour of Dashi actually was, and how to make something that tastes only of that to serve as a building block (like how sugar is only sweet and citric acid is only sour). That flavour is umami, and that building block chemical is MSG. Kikunae Ikeda, the head researcher for the project, would then go on to found Ajinomoto using MSG as it's base product, which is now a massive food conglomerate in Japan. It's name is actually the Japanese word for MSG
