I think you got the target audience wrong, this isn’t a PC gaming headset. It doesn’t even have or support VR controllers.

This is more of an iPad replacement, second screen, productivity and consumption device. And it’s going to be the first one that actually has a big library of regular apps from the very start. Arguably the bigger market, not just for gamers.

It’s great that everyone is able to choose for themselves

It’s an iOS/Webkit bug. I had a cumbersome workaround for that, but it wasn’t worth fixing it that way as it was complicating things a bit too much and most people probably never notice.

There is no metaverse. There’s VR games and multiplayer games, and metaverse became a word for anything that remotely touched any of these or that’s even remotely vaguely related. 3D assets → metaverse. Online game → metaverse. Video call → metaverse.

If you’re talking about Horizon Worlds, that’s a multiplayer game/social experience. Nothing about this is a "metaverse" as it is described in the book where that word came from.

It’s terrible what happened to Israelis and a reaction is understandable. But they’re doing the same and more to equally innocent people on the other side. I’m no expert in that conflict, but no side seems to be in the right here.

Honest question: what are you getting at?

Edit: for anyone upvoting this because they think it’s about sharing a shortcut, look again.

Haha one would hope so. I’m not buying any of their "this is the future of NFTs" aspects either. I feel like the only thing that could work are things like in game cosmetics, but that’s controlled by one company and in an controlled environment so why would you need to have an NFT for that.

I find this to be a more convenient way to upload images to Imgur. You need:

By using the app you can still edit/delete the image. Videos aren’t supported by the shortcut. It’s a super simple shortcut, but using it means you can upload the image/s via share sheet and automatically get the url in your clipboard.

I think the methodology is fine and it certainly isn’t complex. It’s just difficult to start using it when the corporate culture isn’t able to adapt and change it’s structures, that’s the hard part. Also a topic in the book.

Scrum is "bottom up" and the scrum master doesn’t manage anyone or anything, they are there to serve the team and get rid of obstacles. The team is empowered. If there’s a "manager" for the team, that’s already a mistake. That role doesn’t exist in scrum.

Hanlon’s Razor — “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity” — is a remarkably accurate rule of thumb. But in the case of Twitter/X, it’s not — the stupidity of how poorly run the company’s services are is matched by the spitefulness of its owner.

I absolutely love this quote

Not exactly a secret, but this podcast is nice. I’ve been really enjoying it lately, reminds me of the older Reply All episodes: two funny guys with some interesting interviews/insights and topics that I’m curious about. If you’re at all into podcasts it’s probably worth checking out.

Here’s the latest episode: Don't Scrape Me, Bro + The Activists Sabotaging Self-Driving Cars + How Reddit Beat a Rebellion

I agree. I don’t think we’re there yet, but next time the they give people another reason to leave the Lemmy/kbin ecosystem will be even more appealing. Simply the app and dev community here is really exploding.

The latest podcast season of Land of the giants is about Tesla, I‘m finding that quite interesting so far: first episode

Since the update menu item isn’t there, maybe we could get the release notes one level up so we can access it on the native iOS version?

Tapping the status bar no longer scrolls to the top like it did before. Is that an issue for anyone else? (iOS TestFlight version)
