I'd get this instead: JSAUX Docking Station Compatible with Steam Deck/ROG Ally, 5-in-1 Steam Deck Dock with HDMI 2.0 4K@60Hz, 100Mbps Ethernet, Dual USB-A 2.0 and 100W USB-C Charging Port for Valve Steam Deck-HB0602 https://amzn.eu/d/c71hbV8

It's a fairly well known dock for the Deck, and seems (based on feedback on Reddit) that it's more reliable than the official one if anything.

That was my conclusion from research, so I've got it and it's worked flawlessly for several months.

It's just psychologically nicer. It's a bit like it being nicer to get on with work when my desk is tidy (not that I tidy it that often)

I agree, it's a bit annoying. Maybe you could put it in desktop mode, and configure it to turn screen off but not go to sleep? It'll still do updates then.

I'm glad to see some variation in this space (I almost said innovation except that it's a combo of the Deck and Switch). But it's still running Windows (see above) and it's going to be around twice the price of a Deck.

Your instructions are completely correct, but it might make more sense to look at the bands of metal rather than the insulator between them.

TRS stands for "Tip, Ring, Sleeve", referring to the 3 contacts on a TRS jack - one for the left channel, one for right and one for ground. TRRS as you might guess has an extra ring to provide a contact for the microphone as well. So you're looking for the metal tip, two rings of metal and then the metal sleeve.

From that quote I took "that salmon is ok, but this dish that it's in is overall good".

What do you mean by Phase 2?

There's some stuff about the roadmap for most of this year: https://blog.beeper.com/p/state-of-the-app-spring-2023

Carrying cash - particularly coins - is such a pain in the neck. I pay for everything on card whether I'm in this country (UK) or travelling abroad.

I'm almost at the point where I don't need to carry a wallet at all - contactless on my phone takes care of a lot.

Yeah, it can and should be a warning to studio heads, but as game consumers we absolutely should raise our expectations (and stop buying micro transaction crap). There are plenty of big studios with money who could buy the licence and spend years making the game, but those studios belong to the big publishers who optimise for profit not for game quality.

The above advice isn't perfect - in general, use Search first.

Until the first person searches for a community on your instance, your instance doesn't know about it and the URL won't work. Searching (usually using the !community@instance.com form) should always work.

Equally, your instance doesn't start pulling data on a community (messages etc.) until someone subscribes to it, and then when subscribed it will sometimes take a a few hours to get it all (it should immediately start getting new posts and comments).

On a big SD card - 100s of Gbs like you'd use in a Deck - the silicon will go very close to the edge.

Even if it didn't though, the force put into the card might have flexed other bits and broken them.

I've got it installed as a PWA (Firefox Android). It's great but is there any way to get it to open links in my proper browser rather than the web view type thing?
