An ad is something that a 3d party buys to appear on a platform. This is a recommendation by the platform itself, so I would not define it as an ad

You're probably better off using dedicated websites for each site you need to download videos from.

They are usually ridden with ads, but it's not a problem if you use uBlock Origin or similar addons

Eugene of Mastodon has signed an NDA with Facebook.

Is this true? Where can I read more about it?

The situation here in Switzerland is similar. Every time I go to the grocery store, it's full of people (especially kids) that cough on everything and everyone. A couple of my colleages at work came in sick from what turned out to be covid. I somehow managed to avoid getting infected.

Last week a person in a supermarket basically coughed on me while passing by, and now I have a cold. According to the rapid tests (which are still available here, fortunately) it's not covid, but still. The pandemic has not taught us anything.

Every artist in every field get MAYBE paid a tiny bit upfront, and then a percentage of the sales. That's how books and music work, for instance

I mean, to be fair in every Bethesda game you had to do some...let's call it "inventory management".

At least in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim

Yes please :,(

Sure, but I'd rather see them tackle something bigger and more substantial

Joe Ressington

Ooh, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time! I used to listen to him on Linux Action News - or was it Linux Action Show? That man has had soo many podcasts, lol. Anyway I used to love it, and I don't even remember why I stopped listening. Either him or his co-host stopped doing it, I think?

Edit: TWiT is definitely not a "long ad for Microsoft products". Maybe one of their guests loved MS?

No, lots of instances with communities that, if they so chose, can mirror each other. Very different

[-] ominouslemon@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

I love the idea! In the meantime, I think mods of similar communities should talk to each other and decide to merge their communities into one, perhaps on a server that's not lemmy.world. I don't remember which one, but I've seen that happening
