Hey, now you sound like them!

Sure and that's fine, but then we need to stop as a society assuming that generational wealth is a thing, and that parents will help their children. Parents do not help with down payments like they used to, or with other major life events, and so we need to assume everyone is starting from zero

All they did was stop their once a week Starbucks and they became executives!

Yeah where do we find these interesting jobs? Is there a guy handing them out somewhere?

What brand do you recommend, or style?

It'll only get worse. Part of being in the corporate world is seeing it normalized so much, but then also you won't ever make a decent living unless you're in the corporate world. We're hurtling towards a cyberpunk dystopia, but there's more than likely not much you individually you can do.

Even the major push for computer science you're seeing is thanks to FAANG companies pushing for more students to enter the field, not to give them a better living, but to flood the market so this exact thing happens, too much talent so they can pay them less.

Find something, get paid, and make a living for yourself. Corporate world sucks, but we're forced into it

Got it. So for that instance, a great way to have peace would for be for them not to do that.

A great way to have peace right now would be for Russia to leave. Like a great way for there to have peace would be for everyone to just.... Have peace. Easy peasy.

You know a great way they could stop that from happening? Exiting the country they invaded.

Hey Russia is more than welcome to go back home any day and they there will be peace.

Like blaming a strike on the workers. "Stupid workers picketing for better wages!". Distraction tactic. Management can pay a fair wage and it will be over tonight.

Russia can go home and there would be peace tomorrow

Gaming. I've seen it get progressively worse and worse over time. Gamers are some of the most entitled and whiney people I've met.

Game puts out 58fps instead of 60? Trash. Throw it out. Start a media campaign about how shit the devs are at their jobs

Game is only just "fun" and isn't an absolute masterpiece like RDR2? It doesn't matter, since it isn't better than the literal best game ever made it's trash. There is zero middle ground. Burn an effigy!

Game sequel changes anything from the previous? Burn down their offices! Games shouldn't take risks! What do you mean all we have now are boring games from companies afraid to take risks?!

And we haven't even started with the freaking gatekeeping

Now I'm not defending game companies, god knows there's blame over there, but ffs I'm tired of gamers. I've been flamed over having opinions like enjoying a game.

For example. I liked Veilguard. I honestly did. It wasn't a perfect game, it wasn't a RDR2, but I enjoyed it and I found it a good value for the money, and I don't care that it wasn't like Origins. Watch the hate roll in folks.

Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2 still wasn't that long ago, Dragon Age Veilguard was actually a success convincing even EA, Star Wars Jedi series, the list goes on. It just has to be a good story, you can't just slap some boring ass story in there.

After a small bout this weekend, I want to hear what your horrible food poisoning stories are! Embarrassing? Thrilling? Was it a kitchen ignoring safety protocols or did you trust something that was a little iffy out of the fridge? Let me hear it! I'll post my own below.

How to "Follow" film festivals? (poptalk.scrubbles.tech)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech to c/moviesandtv@lemm.ee

General questions, the backstory is I just found out that The Brutalist was at the Savannah Film Festival, and I feel like I really missed out on both seeing it and seeing the panels with the actors. I don't really know how to follow these things though, so as a fairly newby into the film world, what is the best way to follow events?

How do I know that there is a premier near me, or what they're showing? Not saying I want to go to everything, but it'd be nice to know if there are things going on that I would like to attend. Is there a way to do this at a larger/national scale? It's incredibly frustrating, I google something like "Brutalist Film Festivals" and the results are all celebrity rags about past events, how do I find out where they're going to be next?

Ironic, just saw the post about ChatGPT launching their own competitor

What are your worst interviews you've done? I'm currently going through them myself and want to hear what others are like. Dijkstras algorithm on the whiteboard? Binary Search? My personal favorite "I don't see anything wrong with your architecture, but I'm not a fan of X language/framework so I have to call that out"

Let me hear them!

(Non programmers too please jump in with your horrid interviews, I'm just very fed up with tech screens)

Rider is the best C# IDE IMO, works on linux, mac, and of course Windows. Very happy it's now free!
