That must have been an awkward few hours while they posed for this
lol .... I was just thinking this ....
Painter (smirking, holding back laughter): .... ok, ok, Alexander, hey Al ... yeah .. just give me more of a frown ... (heavily smirking) ... no, no, more angry or sad or something ... and maybe put your hand to your chin ... (smirking) ... yeah like that ... now hold it ... for the next five hours
There's a really interesting video on the Art Deco channel about this painting. It gives a lot of the context around the people in it and the moment it is depicting.
An interesting video, thanks!
Ya, and then he spent pretty much the rest of his life trying to destroy her reputation and disparage women in general. Pope was one of history's first notable incels.
Maybe "most memorable" because there were actually quite a lot of notable incels before him?
Pretty funny that his last name is Pope in that context lol
CGP Grey makes him out to be a drama whore in general.
"Just ask her, bro, the worst that can happen is she says no."
thanks for expanding the title
You know what, I didn't even read the title til you pointed it out
That name sounded familiar. This does seem to be the same Alexander Pope that CGPGrey stumbled across and strayed into the, apparently, well documented feud with Thomas Herne.
You referenced CGP Grey and posted a sanitized link.
I am prepared to be best friends.
I’m also in for being best friends
We should form a best friends group.
I've actually tried to befriend three random people on lemmy. Two of them initially went well and chatted with me on Element / Matrix for a while, then stopped responding. One of them never responded to my initial invitation to be friends.
I would love to make friends here based on my philosophical alignment and shared interests with a lot of posters I see, but if I'm objectionable, I don't want my lemmy legacy to be a series of failed friend requests.
Is CGP still doing that thing where you need to give him money for the privilege of leaving a comment?
I don't know, I never comment on YouTube. However, it doesn't seem like he posts on YouTube at all anymore. I'm not certain, but I think he might have refocused on his podcast.
So, all in all ... Maybe?
He did this thing where he banned all comments from non-patrons. Gotta pay to comment now
I'd rather think they posed for this and were hilarious people
Pretty sure she was already married / had a fiancé when he asked.
oh my god this is gold! can you hold for a couple hours so I can paint this real quick?
Oh Bill Frith, you soggy old bitch...
