Because it pretends to be different to the centralised corporate social media platforms, whilst giving the cohesive experience of a centralised platform

I'll quote Tim Minchin here

"If you wanna watch telly, you should watch Scooby Doo
That show was so cool
Because every time there was a church with a ghoul
Or a ghost in a school
They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?
The fucking janitor or the dude who ran the waterslide
Because throughout history
Every mystery
Ever solved has turned out to be
Not magic"

Taken with our new OM-1 MkII and M.Zuiko 100-400mm. I LOVE this camera!

Linux photogs, help me out. What does your workflow look like? What apps do you use?

I've found that digikam is really good for managing my keywords and metadata, and organising photos post shoot, but the image editing is limited.

And using separate image editing software leads to problems, because my camera's raw files (.cr3) aren't very well supported.

I can make it work, by using Lightroom online, but it's not exactly an integrated system due to its cloud based design.

I've tried running Lightroom in a VM, but ran in to trouble giving the VM access to my GPU...

So those who have made it work, what does it look like for you?

Oh no, if I don't give them money, I won't get LLM enshitification? The horror!

We are running Navidrome to serve up our music, and I want to use smart playlists to listen to my music on "random", but in a way that surfaces higher rated songs more often. Doing it this way requires a smart playlist that contains other smart playlists.

Unfortunately, it seems that Navidrome smart playlists only allow me to include non smart playlists in my playlist. I've got a subsonic compatible Android client that does what I need (though it doesn't sync the playlists back to Navidrome), but what I need is a subsonic compatible windows client with the smart list within a smart list functionality, or a way of making Navidrome serve them up directly.

Has anyone found clients that support this, or found a way of making navidrome smart playlists within other smart playlists?

"The first thing that jumps to your mind isn't always what you truly think. Sometimes, it's just what you've been trained to think. What matters, is what you do next"

I grew up in a really racist, queerphobic environment, and that comment really helped me by letting me give myself space to undo the bigoted indoctrination I had been taught, without getting trapped in guilt and self disgust whenever one of the racist or bigoted things I was raised with jumped in to my mind.

It let me recognise the bigoted thought as something I was trained to think, rather than being what I actually believe, and by recognising it, I could disempower the thought, and start to unlearn it

They commodify and profit from Nazis on their platform. When called out for it, their response was "We don't like Nazis either, but we won't do anything about them and we'll continue to take our cut from their presence on our platform"

Using GitHub is a skill of it's own, and requires knowledge of coding practices. It's hugely confronting to someone without coding experience

[-] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 83 points 1 year ago

Cheating is when you do something that betrays your partners trust.

I couldn't care less if my partners post nudes, anonymous or otherwise, so it wouldn't be cheating for me.

Other people feel differently, and so it could be cheating for them.

If you're leaving skidmarks on things every day, the answer to that is better cleaning, not underwear to catch the marks.

I do sometimes bleach my undies (yay vaginas), but that's never been an issue when I'm going commando.

I'm trying to understand why rolling shutter is a problem with electronic shutters, but not with electronic first curtain shutter modes. I've done lots of digging trying to get to the underlying reason for the difference, but I haven't had any luck, just various people talking about the fact it is a problem.

So fediverse photogs, who can help me with an answer?

So, I turned on the option to hide read posts, and now I can't work out how to view them again. Previously, they would show next time I opened the app, and honestly, that's what I want.

Am I missing an easy way to unhide viewed posts?
