You don't have to take Russia's word on it. USA and Russia inspected each other's nuclear arsenal as part of the New START treaty until the beginning of covid.

This is an awful policy. Want to give a tax cut to working people? Raise the standard deduction by a few thousand and bump up the taxes on the highest bracket by a bit (or preferably a lot). That will give a cut to untipped hospitality workers as well.

Seventy-one people have so far died from exhaustion following the world’s largest single-day election in Indonesia last week, according to the government. Some 4,000 others fell sick between Feb 14 and Feb 18 due to fatigue after helping run the Feb 14 election, Hasyim Asy’ari, chairman of the nation's poll body said in a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

The latest election still claimed dozens of lives even after the government imposed an age cap for volunteers and mandated health checks after more than 500 polling station workers died following the 2019 vote.

What is going on there, Indonesia? That's abnormal to say the least. These are not groupings of words you would expect to be seeing outside of like an election being held during a civil war or something.

I find it strange that Canada could complete the Canada Pacific Railway in 1881 with a population of 4 million and the Trans Canada Highway in 1962 with a population of 18 million but such a national project in 2024 with a population of 40 million is impossible. More like, ever since the funding strategy for infrastructure moved over to the P3 model primarily, infrastructure investments can only happen if a private organization can profit from them in the relatively short term. And this makes the investment costs of such mega projects too high for private interests to want to take on. But no one points at the CPR or the Trans Canada Highway and frets about the costs now. The value of the investments are apparent. They built the country we live in. A trans national hsr network would do the same.

They used to have a much better grasp on this sort of thing. "Is so-and-so a groomer? I don't know, but people have been saying. I'm just asking questions..." and so forth. Couching your bs accusations in uncertain language to protect you from the libel lawsuit you clearly deserve. I guess it's good they seem to be forgetting about that tool more frequently.

Ben Shapiro, Steven Crowder, Dinesh D'Souza, and Peter Hitchens among names you may have heard of.

As well as an endless supply of idiots on web forums throughout the last 30+ years.

This is the right's favourite lie to distance themselves from the natural end result of their ideology.

Food inflation was still sitting at 9% while general inflation had dropped sub 3%. They can support this initiative by ceasing to rip us off. Frankly I'm annoyed that we're apparently seeking their support rather than demanding their obedience or meting out consequences.

No, I've been paying attention. And I paid very close attention when it was all happening. I think their excuse is bullshit. Too many of their members were inclined to agree with the besiegers and didn't do their job as a result.

Are you under the impression that no roads were blocked?

Should have called it Thatcheresque for the local flair.

It was honestly incredibly stupid of the American founders to assume making these guys practically untouchable would make them above corruption rather than the perfect targets for it. Childishly naive.

I already dipped. By the time I cancelled I wasn't using the service enough to justify paying for it monthly, anyways.
