It’s crab-bucket public relations.

If you drag everyone down to your level, everyone looks bad, or at least you don’t look as bad by comparison and the voting public loses confidence in the system in general, which tends to benefit fascists.

Depressingly, also Fetterman.

It's self-hate for being a closeted sofasexual.

No kidding.

This is like healthcare, which every other nation has mostly solved, but the Americans bend over backwards to find the most byzantine “solutions “ for just to avoid taxing the rich and/or implementing a functioning welfare state.

The latest hysterical example was importing drugs from Canadian pharmacies because apparently buying from a (barely) socialist country is okay, but basic bargaining is somehow immoral.

they don’t care. Their intent is to use the power of the state to suppress everyone else. They already have an answer for your concern and it’s an awful one.

It's a man-bites-dog story, both figuratively and literally.

People being cruel to animals as part of the food chain? It's a day that ends in "y"

A potential vice president of the United States killed a dog because she didn't like it? That's newsworthy.

It might focus attention on animal cruelty.

Side note: Joe Biden very clearly likes his dogs, and treats them perhaps a little too well. Donald Trump famously doesn't have any pets, and uses euphemisms like "...like a dog" to invoke cruelty. Make of that what you will.

The justice system is extraordinarily lenient if you're rich and can afford good lawyers.

Trump would probably already have beaten the rap if he could afford, or at least would pay for, good counsel.

Huh, no Fox, Newsmax, OAN or PostMedia on that list.

I wonder why?

Did you know that almost every MP/MPP/MLA, and certainly every Conservative MP/MPP/MLA, is already independently wealthy and doesn't really care about their salary?

Bitching about MP salaries is a big red herring that just further gatekeeps representative government by ensuring that only people who are already wealthy will run.

I mean, it's basically impossible for young and/or poor people to run for office today, since you need both time and money, which no one who isn't independently wealthy, has. Take time off work and go into debt in order to run for office? Hahaha fuck no. This tempest-in-a-teapot just makes it worse.

Is it "changing consumer preferences", or is it the industry seeing an opportunity for shrinkflation.

Really? A group with fascist tendencies that's being whipped up by money-grubbing grifters is prone to acts of violence against a marginalized group?

Why, I'm shocked. That has never happened before.

From housing affordability to climate change, Trudeau attempted to reach out directly to the demographic that’s helped him win past elections

Really? From the guys who

  • Did nothing about housing since 2015
  • Won't do anything about housing that might inconvenience developers and landlords in any way
  • Is talking all sorts of "studies" and "consultations" on housing...
  • ...but bought a five billion dollar oil pipeline without having to go on any such consultative exercises.

Please. The Liberals know what they need to do to fix housing (regulation on investment & speculation, massive and direct public housing) and they know that it'll help the youth vote. They don't want to do it, though, because their donor class would scream and they--the Liberals--are allergic to direct public spending.

Until they can find a "market-based solution" they won't do a damn thing.

And anyone who looks to the conservatives when they're feeling "economically anxious" hasn't paid attention to the complete trainwreck that austerity policy is. Think things suck now? Wait until the conservatives get in and do the exact same thing, only with more service cuts and tax breaks for the very rich.
