Always some annoying bullshit at the end

How hard is it for them to realize this? Graphics are a nice to have, they're great, but they do not hold up an entire game. Star wars outlaws looked great, but the story was boring. If they took just a fraction of the money they spent on realism to give to writers and then let the writers do their job freely without getting in their way they could make some truly great games.

Did this in computer sales. Within a few sentences I would know that you would be buying one of three computers off my shelf.

Oh I just need something for word and internet.

Well let's look at , , and . There are 40 computers on this floor, but you now have to pick from the three I chose for you. Out of those three, there is one right answer.

Now lucky for them I was trying to steer them to the best computer for them, because I was not on commission and didn't care about sales numbers, but this is a frequent sales tactic. Next time you're on a car lot, try to see if you're shown more than 3 cars out of the hundreds on the lot.

It's all based on perspective. I think it's wonderful. You feel closed in physically, I feel free and open emotionally being there. People in my small town claim they're nice, when really they're gossipy and judgemental. People in NYC seem mean at first, then you realize they don't care about you! You can just be you and no one is judging or talking behind your back.

Some people feel free with an open road, I see an annoying drive and a headache. I see a subway map and see all the places I can go

As for pollution and dirt, well, every place is like that, it's just density. You put enough stuff together and you'll see it. Just because you can't see it in your own home doesn't mean it's not there. It's just more obvious. Every one of us is wasteful and gross, there's just more people there. Then also even though as a whole the city is more polluted, density is less wasteful than suburbs.

In the suburbs some people see a yard as their own place, I see it as chores and work. Personally I'd rather have a nice park within walking distance.

Perspective.

I doubt they would come for it as a whole. Individuals who are too outspoken though, I could see them banned

Satisfactory for me. 2000 hours and counting

Are you on Android? I selected something a while back that stopped Google's proprietary messaging system for sms, and it dropped all of my group chats. I had to be readded to them

Those are the sort of parents I left in the past, I feel you with a lot of that.

As for the grandkids, feel free to use my excuse. "I can't afford them". (Partially because I have to support one of them, but also kids are freaking expensive). So they can whine about not having grandchildren all they want. Kids are now 800k+, who can do that?

We're in a pretty nice bubble here on Lemmy and the fediverse. There's a LOT of bootlickers who happily want him convicted

Very rational take. You learn entering the world that every company has a dark side, and every person has a line, but that line shifts.

Personally I'd avoid Lockheed, but when it comes to paying the mortgage, the bank is surprisingly not very amenable to me not having a job. I'd love to avoid working at any bad company, but I'd probably have to sell my house and live out of a studio, and my family would suffer for it.

So I give some graces. For example, people shame folks who work at amazon, but Amazon pays the bills. What I personally have changed to is judging people for being gung ho about a company, happy with what the company is doing, or are they just there as a job. If you're in accounting and you just loooove working for Amazon and think they do no wrong, then yes I judge a lot

Lucky for me my parents were both "I didn't save anything for retirement, my kids will take care of me when I'm older", so I don't have to suffer through this.

Big reason I'm not having kids. Oh I'm only starting to feel relatively stable in my late 30s?! Why would I ruin that now, kids cost well over 800k, I can't afford my house and one kid, let alone 2

But maybe that could happen to YOU, so don't pay too much attention to how much you're getting screwed, because you'll totally be a CFO in just a few more years of work!

See! You're not THAT poor. Just give it another few decades!

One of those things I wish every once in a while, to meet the actor/actress I most enjoy and just ask them questions about their roles and what they were thinking.

Of course the worry is that they are completely opposite in real life and it would ruin the illusion, so a catch-22. I both want to know more about them, but also I don't want to know anything.

To kick us off, some here know my favorite actress is Felicity Jones, and I would absolutely love to meet her and know more about how she chooses a role, she is very selective now. She is also very secretive about her process and how she gets into character, yet she is one of the best biographical actresses in my opinion after Jane Hawking and RBG.

A fun one I think would be Woody Harrelson, talking to him from Cheers up to Hunger Games and more, he seems fun to have a beer, but he also seems like a prime "actually an asshole" candidate.

Expanding Synology (poptalk.scrubbles.tech)

Hey folks, happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating today!

I have a Synology DS1821+ that I have completely filled. I'm looking for expanding, but I don't really want to completely replace the Synology yet.

Does anyone know if there is a way to expand the number of drives? I've heard murmers that I can use a DAS, but nothing for sure. Wondering if anyone has attempted this before. Thanks!

As one of my favorite youtuber said: "Railroad management has no interest in railroading. They are only interested in profits"

Workers are striking after trying a failing multiple times to negotiate fair pay, standardize Remote/Hybrid options, and other basic rights. The strike comes the day before election day.

I guess fingers crossed at the NYT that the election website doesn't tip over from too much traffic....
