Unfortunately I can't read the article because there's a paywall.
But already the headline is bad enough! How the fuck can they claim you aren't allowed to film in your own home?
At least they lost the case.

Seems like Finland is a lot worse than here.
Usually police is pretty relaxed, and I doubt many policemen would make a house search based on the small of cannabis alone.

I have found that the flowers of the hob plant used for beer has much the same smell. Saying it's just that, could at least give them plausible deniability.

I can see he is very serious, because he writes: "Fuck yourself in the face."
Not like when he said to advertisers they could go fuck themselves, back then he wasn't serious, because when they actually did that, he threatened to sue them. But there's a subtle difference in nuance, with the "in the face" part, so this time I think he may actually be serious.

Obviously Musk is a very smart man and very eloquent. It almost takes an expert to pick up the subtle nuances.
Like when he says Tesla will have FSD that is more secure than a human next year 8 years in a row, what he really mean is: "Fuck yourself in the face."

I think that most of the time, that's what he means.

Oh boy, I think I may be a bad person. Because I so want to see everything go wrong for this guy. And I mean EVERYTHING!
Lose his money, lose his home, get sick preferably something very painful, not be able to get healthcare, lose his family and friends.
But all he has lost is his mind, and he is completely oblivious to that.

But at least as the narcissist he is, I can at least find some comfort in the fact that his emotional life is probably pretty fucked up, and he will always feel sorry for himself for whatever ridiculous reason.

That's how we got democracy, the King was afraid to literally lose his head.

[-] Buffalox@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Absolutely, both sides could be equally bad. But in this case, Ukraine really is the innocent victim, and Russia the big villain.
Which is why the truth works for Ukraine but not for Russia.

[-] Buffalox@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago

Soon all communications have to go through the ministry of truth. Big brother is watching you.

[-] Buffalox@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

Because to the extend it's possible, the numbers from Ukraine are pretty much confirmed by estimates by Pentagon and British military.
Apart from that, Ukraine is NOT run like a giant propaganda machine, but for instance has free press, which Russia doesn't. And Ukraine acknowledges what's going on in the war, which Russia also doesn't, except when it suits their propaganda.

These numbers could be propaganda, but I think Ukraine wants us to know the actual truth in this regard, the truth is horrific enough so they don't have to make it worse. If Russia were to publish numbers that are true, they'd have to acknowledge that their losses are higher than Ukraine.
But in Russian news they claim the opposite. Just as they claim Ukraine attacked Russia first, And they even claim they are also attacked by NATO.

Have you ever seen a false claim from Zelenskyy regarding the war?
Have you ever seen Putin be truthful about the war?

It's very clear that one side is way more trustworthy than the other.

Maybe it wasn't entirely fair to claim only in America, but it is very widespread in USA, and this case took it to the ultimate step where it became lethal.

no-one believes me in what happened.

I do, and unfortunately I've heard a very similar story here from Denmark, an emigrant who was held in detention (isolation) for 3 days, without seeing a judge, and then released.
I'm so sad these things happen, I don't know why people don't believe you, but I guess you have to have had close up experiences with life on the bottom of society.
You probably wouldn't have been treated like that, if they thought you could afford to throw lawyers after them afterwards. It's always the weak that get abused.
These people are in a position of tremendous power over other people, that power easily corrupts them to think they are entitled to abuse you if they don't like you.
What you experienced is hopefully extreme, my friend at least got water, but he too was withheld from medication, and his condition got clearly worse after the experience.
So I absolutely believe you 100%.
These institution needs to be monitored, this kind of abuse is unacceptable.

I was literally tortured for three days. In Finland. By the authorities.

You absolutely were, and my guess is that you are not alone, this is something they do to break you, to make you "behave" as they want you to. To make you "respect" their authority.

I don't know you, but I know my friend, and I am pretty sure he is telling the truth, and your stories are extremely similar.

[-] Buffalox@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Yes, but it's uncommon to disclose your own losses, because it can be used by the enemy.
And if Russia made them, they would not be trustworthy, because Russia is run like one big propaganda machine in every aspect of government.
If a third part were to make the numbers, it would be 2nd hand information.
So we are not likely to get good information with daily updates regarding the losses of Ukraine.

I think whether you call it a thought process or not comes down to definition of what you mean by that. It's definitely intelligence, and there definitely is a process.
So I wouldn't have a problem calling it a thought process. But it's not self consciousness yet. But we may not be very far from it.
It's amazing the progress that has been achieved the past decade.
When I predicted 2035 as a point where we could possibly achieve strong AI, it was at a point where we'd had 2-3 decades of very little progress. But I've always been certain that the human brain is a 100% natural phenomenon, and the function of it can be copied, just like with everything else in nature. And when that is achieved, there will still be room for improvement.
As a natural process, our brain is built on the physical properties of atoms, so IMO it's only a matter of time before we have an artificial intelligence that is just as valid to call self conscious as ourselves.

Absolutely, these people are paid to be professionals. So it's even worse when they act like criminals instead.

Only in America.
Which today means the exact opposite of what it did 40 years ago here (Denmark).
These assholes deserve death penalty more than most that actually get it.

Russia has launched an offensive into the Kharkiv region, and it has created a lot of alarmist news reports. In reality it is difficult to see what Russia's plan is, and it is not self-evident that it is a smart use of resources. In this video I discuss whether we might be seeing a return to the fragmented command structures that Russia had in the beginning of the war.

My old $200 Motorola G9 Power phone lasted almost 4 years with only very minor scratches. Obviously in that period I have dropped it a few times getting out of the car, where the phone sometimes work itself out of my pant pocket while I drive, and then it slips out when I get out of the car. But no problem on my previous phones, despite the Moto had cheap Panda glass front.

Then I bought my $800 glass back Xiaomi 13T Pro in January, and I loved the phone for the camera and good specs. But alas after only 4 months, and single drop of just 30 cm while sitting on the porch, the glass back immediately cracked! The back now looks like an ugly mess, and the high water resistance is very likely gone too.

For sure the last time I buy a phone with a glass back!!!

I wonder why glass back is so popular, and I curse the media for reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S2 as "feeling a bit cheap", because the back was synthetic, and drop tests showed it was 10 times as durable as the iPhone with its glass back.

Samsung did it right in the beginning, glass backs are a curse.

PS: I don't use condoms for my phones, if they need that for daily use, it's an obvious design flaw!!!

The glass back is supposedly there to give a premium feel to the phone. But because it's fragile, people have to use a cover, but with the cover, the premium feel of a glass back is gone anyways?
How is glass back not a design flaw?

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION:

I am not clumsy, that's why I believe the phone should be able to last without cover. This was the first time the phone slid out of my packet, and I've NEVER dropped it out of my hands. One 30 cm slip and it's broken. Where for instance my Moto had maybe 4-6 in all over the years, and remained unscathed, apart from some tiny scratches.
The sliding out of pocket does occur maybe a couple of times per year, but it's a low drop, and the phone should absolutely be able to handle that tiny drop, as it's an item for everyday use.
I've also never had problems with scratches on my screen on any phone, which is the reason people use screen protectors I guess, which I don't either, because they are ugly, for instance they create a tiny ring around the camera, and they feel awful IMO, my phone came with it, and it took exactly 10 seconds for me to decide to remove it, because I could feel the edge of the screen protector when using the phone.
But please stop with the dropping my phone regularly comments! Just because I dropped my Moto a few times (slid out of pocket) over almost 4 years! Always from low height, which it should be able to handle a few times.
