Twitch already does this for their livestreams and has been doing it for years. I'm just surprised that YouTube has taken this long to get around to injecting advertisements into the video stream. Although I think if YouTube decided to try ad injection the adblocking community would fire back with something novel to thwart their efforts and the eternal arms race would continue.

Maybe it's because I'm not from hurricane country, but I'll never understand why people refuse to leave when told. Are they afraid looters are going to get their stuff? Then just file an insurance claim when you get back. People seem so obstinately stubborn about it for no discernable reason.

He did so poorly during the last one that his handlers are sure to keep him away from that debate stage at any cost, especially when it's so close to the election. They can't afford to have him say more dumb shit because they don't have gaffe-prone Joe Biden to grab soundbytes to play on repeat and the news will just report on Trump's nonsense.

This would be a problem if it were 1924, but we're living in 2024. The solutions for this are right in front of us and have been for decades. Get all these guys and gals on a secure teleconference and turn the Capitol building into a museum, or renovate it to have smaller private offices.

There, now we can get 10,000 reps in if we need to. The bigger concern is how are they going to decide who gets to speak with that many representatives. They can't realistically give everybody equal floor time and expect government to be anything other than completely paralyzed. So the number probably still needs to be capped, but it should be capped at a value where whatever the state that has the lowest population sets the value at 1 and every other state divides their population by that number to figure out how many representatives they get.

Which is bizarre, because shrinkage due to theft at all major retail chains is at historic lows, but they keep complaining that they can't make any money due to rampant shoplifting. Then you look at their profits for each fiscal year and wonder what their deal is if losses due to shoplifting have never been lower and profits have never been higher?

It's an easy scapegoat to justify closing low performing stores. It essentially shifts the blame onto the community, rather than the greedy suits.

I think as long as we continue to develop newer and better medicinal techniques, we'll reach the point where we can keep our bodies together long enough to enjoy old age as much as we do middle age.

I see a lot of really cool medical advancements on the horizon from regrowing natural teeth all the way to literal "reverse aging" of brain cells, none of which are going to grant us immortality or multi-century lifespans, but will probably make it so that we can go into the twilight years with less pain and more cognitive function than our ancestors who had to endure the agony without being able to die in dignity.

Being financially insulated from the consequences of their own actions via their wealthy parents seems to have an effect on stunting their emotional development prematurely. Trump and Musk are both sad losers with more money than sense.

The billionaire class must be abolished.

Justice DENIED. AGAIN.

There's no impropriety about sending a convicted felon to prison just before an election. He has already been convicted. The fact that he is the nominee is irrelevant. RNC should have thought about that before they picked a guy they knew would likely end up behind bars for all the criminal acts he committed.

Now Trump will say he "won" the case, just like he did with the classified documents case. Corrupt judges all the way down.

In other news, Colorado confirmed most patriotic state in the union.

If a few more states follow suit, even if they are "safe blue" states, the GOP will have no choice but to drop Trump and pick up the next best candidate. Winning local elections is way more important for Republican-aligned agendas to continue forward, but if people won't turn out because Trump is off the ballot, it'll be a blue wave of lower offices flipping. They'll need to work fast to push the "Trump Bad, X Good" where X is whatever conservative sock puppet they prop up to take his place in hopes of saving their chances at maintaining a multi-state hegemony on state congressional seats.
