Connery played a character who was born in Egypt and most recently had adopted the persona of a Spaniard.

Generally high is too high for most foods, where it overcooks the outsides and still cold in the middle. Regulating the power setting and time is like using the settings on a stove and taking stuff off when done.

Melting cheese, heating mashed potatoes, and a ton of other things are just better with some small tweaks to the time and power. Hitting the +30 seconds is like putting the stove on high and cooking in 30 second increments.

That is like saying that Jurassic Park was the worst that special effects would ever be.

2 + 0 + 0 + start for me on every microwave I've ever owned.

I need exact seconds and power settings for multiple things, including heating up small amounts of dog food a small amount.

People that thing microwaves suck to heat up food are just rawdogging the +30 seconds button.

Did something similar before being diagnosed and it sucked and I hated it. Too rigid to maintain focus when I actually started to focus, too many interruptions.

because most inmates walk out with almost nothing, which often leads to chronic homelessness and ending up back in jail.

There is a reason the "former" slaves states like Alabama ensure that prisoners are destitute when they are released.

It was relevant to the joke present and therefore on topic.

The fact of the matter is that we know what happens when we provide shelter without anything else. It doesn’t last and you’re right back where you started before you know it. After all, it’s that stuff that is the reason they became homeless in the first place.

Actually it is pretty darn successful when enough housing is provided.

Houston revamped its entire system to get more people into housing quickly, and it cut homelessness by more than half.

Housing First was a revolutionary idea when it was introduced in the 1990s because it didn’t require homeless people to fix their problems before getting permanent housing. Instead, its premise — since confirmed by years of research — was that people are better able to address their individual problems when basic needs, such as food and a place to live, are met.

Housing is the first step to being able to address those issues. Yes, the issues need to be addressed for long term success, but trying to address the issues while they are homeless is not successful. Too much emphasis is put on requiring the treatment as conditional for the housing.

The second life/metaverse/virtual reality concept will never be widely accepted by the majority of the population because it just isn't what the vast majority of people want. They want communication methods that compliment their real world lives.

Yes, it will probably be more popular at some point than it has been so far if they can pull off affordable ultra realism, but the escapism of virtual worlds appeals to a relatively small portion of the population. Not to mention that a lot of people have a limited amount of free time, and even if it was extremely popular at first, the novelty would wear off fairly quickly for most people.
