Lol, people are just gonna think its a false alarm like last time

Because there's a disease called Depression and it affects your perception of the world.

It's hard to understand it. When I was a kid, my mom would tell me about some rich/famous people who ended their lives, and asked me what I thought of it. I thought: But they are rich/famous, why would they do something so stupid

Then I got older and am diagnosed with depression. I understand what those people were going through. It can't really be understood until you've gone through it.

Having depression is different from experiencing a depressed mood. Clinical depression is very long term, much more serious.

Its like... you are a computer, and this malware appears out of nowhere starts corrupting your system files, and the beautiful colorful desktop background crashes and its just a blank, black, desktop, the shortcuts wouldn't open the programs, you try to use the antivirus but the malware just can't be removed. Its so advanced that many computer experts have no idea how to even remove it...

Yes because society is evil and I'm sure I can be a positive influence. Don't worry, unlike every past dictator, I'll do different this time. Trust me! ๐Ÿ˜‰

less prone to engage in polite conversation

What the fuck did you just say to me, you little shit lemming? I'll have you know that I graduated top of my class in online forum debates...

PGP-signed messages when?

(Every government official, journalist, should have a PGP Public Key distributed to everyone, and start signing messages. I mean, we are in the new era of Deepfakes, we need to be ready for the inevitable BS.)

The president once ~~said~~ decreed "Inject bleach in your veins"

RFK Jr. will declare bleach the new vaccine

I mean, if we could easily change laws, we wouldn't need to murder a bunch of rich people, just seize any assets that exceed a certain limit (a wealth cap essentially) and call it a day. No bloodshed. Frankly, I'm not a fan of violence if there is a peaceful path.

Basically.

Most "Communist" countries practices Vanguardism, the idea of a "Vanguard Party" that is suppose to look out for the people, and act in the interest of the people, taking absolute control of the country, destroy capitalism and implement communism, then when communism is achieved, the state would naturally "wither away", ceasing to exist.

Yea... imagine how that works in practice. Once a party gets into power, they aint ever giving it up, thats the problem.

Only one time use.

Think of like world leaders, celebrities, ya know ๐Ÿ˜‰. Are you gonna make them do some embarassing things, or illegal acts.

My answer:

spoilerTake control of an NSA agent with access to the most powerful hacking tools, hack everyone's phone, install a program that randomly have a popup at random intervals, the popup message says "I'm watching you". This also tries to spread itself to any other phone it can connect to. Pure chaos ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Pretty sure I can do this in a minute, depending on how good the NSA tools are.

I mean like people like parents/siblings/spouses/significant others/kids/roomates/housemates...

I mean, I have paranoia about other things too (such as germaphobia/mysophobia), but specifically on this issue of people snooping, is amongst one of my top fears, and I'm just curious if other have this similar fear/paranoia.

Like every time I wake up, I wonder if my parents or brother put some malware/spyware on my phone because they think its a funny prank or whatever.

Every time I enter my PIN for my phone, I always cover the screen before entering it in case my parents have cameras in the house. And even more so in public, I'd fear CCTV getting my PIN.

[No, I have not been diagnosed with schizophrenia, I don't hallucinate or anything like that. (But I do have a diagnosis of depression.)]

[This is distinct from the common fears of government surveillance or whatever. That, strangely enough, I fear much less, since I'm just one in hundreds of millions of people that they would care about, so I'm not so worried about that.]

I mean, imagine a future where every computer is just a chromebook, phones are no longer phones but just a "terminal" that streams the actual OS which runs in the cloud.

I mean, with 5G, I think its possible to make it seamless. And I think corporations push for this because they would love to have your data in the cloud, both for surveillance, and to charge a subscription for storage. I think this enshittifications would eventually happen to digital storage.

"You would own nothing and you'd be happy"

So how likely will this dystopian future happen?

I'd predict a 90% chance of this happening, and almost everyone would be okay at first, until they start overcharging for cloud storage subscriptions, but by then it'd be too late, there'd be a monopoly.

Think of it like a video game HUD where there's just text floating above a person's head where you see all their political beliefs, including the degree of bigotry (if any), or whether or not the person believes in the use of violence to acheive polical goals, basically every little detail that would accurately depict people's political beliefs. Your beliefs are also visible to others. This effect has 1KM radius, including people above and below you.

So, how fucked are you?

(Think of all the authorities in your area that can see your beliefs, including the beliefs regarding the recent incident...)

60

Not only will you die, but so will your entire family and your pets.

This is so you are incentivised to stay alive.

Rules:

  • You cannot refuse this, refusal is also instant death, along with everyone mentioned above.

  • You have absolute authority over the entire world.

  • Every person has a non-removable brain implant that allows them to vote "Approve", "Disapprove", or "Abstain from vote". These are completely immune to hacking.

  • Every above age 18 can vote.

  • You must maintain 50% + 1 vote of "Approve", exactly 50% Approve / 50% Disapprove still means death for you. "Abstain" is not a vote means it isn't counted.

  • The effects don't apply until at least 50% of the population has voted. If you get more 51% disapproval, you'll still live as long as theres less than 50% of the votes submitted.

  • If someone dies before voting, their vote automatically becomes "Disapprove" (So you don't get any ideas of committing genocides)

  • Once a vote is submitted, it stays valid even if the person died. A person could also make their implant automatically change vote if they die. So someone could have their vote be set at "Approve" but becomes "Disapprove" upon death.

29

I mean like:

If someone were to say "Lets Kill [Name of Politician]" and it gets removed, its still in modlogs. So like, I think the law still count modlogs as being on your website. So its not gonna remove legal consequences. And also, its not really gonna stop other people sympathetic to your cause from reading it from the modlogs and potentially get inspired/radicalized to do the act.

So what's the point? Modlogs, while providing transparency, seems counterproductive.

I mean just think about it! Doesn't that just make sense?

Okay weird hypotheticals again lol:

Rules (sorry, I know someone is gonna ask for rules, cuz its a time travel scenario mmkay?):

TLDR: Basically you have 24 hours, you can end it at anytime and go back to the future, but once you end it, its over. You can only do it once. You can save this ability for any time in the future, or use it immediately.

Full rules:

  • Basically, you are back inside the body of your past self at any point in time after you were born. Obviously you can't bring anything back, only your consciousness goes back.
  • You have up to 24 hours, you can end the time travel session earlier if you want. If you loses consciousless in your past self's body, or fall asleep, the time travel session immediately ends.
  • You can only do this once.
  • You don't have to immediately use it, you can save this ability for any time in the future.
  • You must be awake to use it, you can't use it in the middle sleep of while unconscious. Although, you can travel back to a time when you were asleep and you would immediately wake up in your past self's body.
  • When you go back, your past self's memories are merged with your memory, and you keep this even when you travel back to the future.
  • When the time travel session ends, you return to the moment in time when you originally left, but now you are in the new timeline with a future that could have changed from your actions in the past.
  • Your past self would immediately resume control the moment you left, if you were still awake at the time of leaving. If your time travel session ended by losing consciousness, then your past self resume control when they wake up. Your past self would remember roughly what happened but wouldn't understand that your future self was in control (unless you leave yourself a note or record a video or something), and wouldn't retain your future memories.
  • If you end up in a timeline where you died before the moment in time when your left your original timeline, you basically just see the last 24 hours of yourself in the new timeline before you died, in 3rd person view, then your consciousness fades and you are gone.

Basically the point is to ask yourself: What are things in your life you wished you could change. Or what period of 24 hours would you like to revisit again.

What are the opinions you've heard from people you've met in real life? I know the internet seems to have consensus, but the internet is not always representative of the real world.

What are the opinions of Luigi in your:

Family? Relatives? Friends? Coworkers/Classmates? People in your area?

I don't really want to discuss this IRL since I'm a bit paranoid of mass surveillance and getting my voice recorded saying anything anti-establishment could put a target on my back, especially with the incoming US administration, so I'd rather not. (I know, I'm paranoid)

(Edit: Also, I don't want a future employer somehow getting a recording of me glorifying a CEO's death)

The only people IRL I've heard from are my parents who basically read propaganda from Wechat that just portrays Luigi as some crazy person, but, then again, my parents are also Pro-CCP idiots and hates Democrats for the "migrant crisis", so that seems to be a trend for their beliefs: just parotting what Wechat says.

Except the obvious fuck spez / steve huffman stuff, what are the things that get you banned on reddit, but is okay on most major instances Lemmy?

Specifically, I want to know where is the line drawn, regarding the recent NYC Shooting incident involving the corporate shithead.

283

Reason I'm asking is because I have an aunt that owns like maybe 3 - 5 (not sure the exact amount) small townhouses around the city (well, when I say "city" think of like the areas around a city where theres no tall buildings, but only small 2-3 stories single family homes in the neighborhood) and have these houses up for rent, and honestly, my aunt and her husband doesn't seem like a terrible people. They still work a normal job, and have to pay taxes like everyone else have to. They still have their own debts to pay. I'm not sure exactly how, but my parents say they did a combination of saving up money and taking loans from banks to be able to buy these properties, fix them, then put them up for rent. They don't overcharge, and usually charge slightly below the market to retain tenants, and fix things (or hire people to fix things) when their tenants request them.

I mean, they are just trying to survive in this capitalistic world. They wanna save up for retirement, and fund their kids to college, and leave something for their kids, so they have less of stress in life. I don't see them as bad people. I mean, its not like they own multiple apartment buildings, or doing excessive wealth hoarding.

Do leftists mean people like my aunt too? Or are they an exception to the "landlords are bad" sentinment?

Sorry if this is a weird question. I'm bored and randomly thought about reincarnation and started wondering, thought this would be a fun question. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rules:

  • All your current memory is instantly transferred when you fall asleep one night (you don't get any prior knowledge of this so you won't be able to make any preparations), then when you wake up, you are in the body of a random North Korean kid living in Pyongyang somewhere between age 10 and 14 and matching your gender assigned to your original body at birth (I'm sorry, I know this would be a struggle for those that don't identify with their gender assigned at birth, but it's part of the challenges of this hypothetical)

  • All psychological health conditions are also transferred (unfortunately)

  • Your new host body would not have any physical disabilities and is mostly healthy (sort of)

  • You don't have any of your host body's original memories, they're gone. (Edit: You retain any language that your host body's original consciousness have learned, but no memories) Their consciousness was overwritten by your consciousness's arrival and they, unfortunately, died. That consciousness wouldn't know or feel anything, it just vanishes, poof.

  • The person who was originally you in your old body, would immediately die during sleep, at the moment of the consciousness transfer occuring. Doctors could not find a cause of death, and its marked as "Unknown Cause of Death". No foul play would be found, no one would ever get falsely suspected by authorities of murdering you.

So how do you survive?

How do you plan your escape, or are you even gonna try?
